I agree up to a point but when I was doing the maths on what was the best deal, the only way sim only and buying outright was much better than the contract I found was if I got the special offer £9 month sim from 3. It only has 4gb data and doesn't have "feel at home" or wifi hotspot ability which are pretty useful. Ignoring that offer it was going to be a £21/month sim only deal which over 2 years (if you buy the 7+ 128gb outright) is £1323.
The contract I have just got has 10gb data, roaming, better network, free apple music for 6 months and comes to £1192 over 2 years. If you completely remove the cost of the phone from that you are paying £15.50/month for the network. You simply can't get any decent deals for £15.50 month.
Calm down, I meant it's never going to happen Apple adopting an open standard. And I remember early non mfi lightning cables being a bit rubbish but thats part of the point, there isn't an mfi for USB-C and the way it's designed means implemented incorrectly it can kill laptops.

Up until last year three were doing the one plan, unlimited everything for £15 a month, 4G, feel at home, 12GB tethering, it's now £21 but you get £3 discount by paying via DD, luckily I'm still paying £15 for it so I always buy my phones outright. I've had this same sim only deal for 5 years now and it can't be beaten.
Anyone looked into getting one on their new iPhone Upgrade Programme?
Looks like a really good idea, and I'm very tempted by it due to my SIM being provided and paid for by work.
Implementing any USB standard incorrectly will kill devices if you wire it wrong, as per the article linked. The same can be said for any manufacturing where quality control processes are poor or non-existent. Even if you are MFI certified this doesn't stop poor quality control,or badly made products leaving the factory.
Presently Apple have committed themselves to a low bandwidth, delivery using their current connector, but if they are serious about moving forward and having interoperability and making the likes of the iPad Pro a true laptop replacement, then they are really going to be left with no choice, than either adding a USB-C port, or changing the current connector to one, including on the phone.
Pop back in 24 months at the release of the Iphone 8, and we'll see what connector it has on it. I'm sure the people who forked over for Lightning headphones won't mind using an adapter cable to switch to USB-C
Reserved a 32gb Black iPhone 7. Going to go for the one without Apple care (http://www.apple.com/uk/shop/iphone/iphone-upgrade-program - if you look for "You can also choose to make low monthly payments without AppleCare+. Learn more about iPhone Payments")
Works out as £27.50 for 20 months, interest free. Can't go wrong.
Are we thinking they will skip the 7s and go straight to 8 for the 10th anniversary?
People are suggesting Apple may goallfurther out for the anniversary model. Pure speculation though

Scratch the itch. Go on
Can you imagine if they don't? I mean the keyboard warriors will literally explode with rage at Apple failing to deliver something they never promised that the furious typers were never going to buy in the first place because they're trying so hard to prove they're not isheep.
And the rest of the world will still buy the crap out of it as those same complainers point to the fact their sales are falling whilst conveniently ignoring plateauing smartphone penetration worldwide.
Yes I've been tired of reading this stuff this week lol.
