Yeah moreso because she's a pratty teenager than anything, not sure if that's the 'excuse' for the TV show mind you. In part the character development between the 2 leads is what makes the 1st game excellent.
 
The original meaning of "woke" no longer applies in today's world. Instead of being aware of injustices and whatnot, woke is labelled to those who are often hypocritical or entitled, and often self-applied as well. Anti-woke would be in this context, "normal" folks.
 
Thought that was excellent, enough for people who have played the game to enjoy some of the scenes and enough information so that you don't have to have played the games to get what's going on. in 4k it looked tremendous - I can imagine on a decent HDR capable set it was even better (my tv doesn't have HDR and I've heard this was shown in UHD HDR).

The differences between the show and equivalent scenes in the game made a lot of sense as well. I'll not stay up to watch it live but will make sure to watch it the next day, think this will be better as a weekly watch and not a binge watch as it's something to look forwards to.
 
First episode was great, loved the little setup scene at the very start.

Also interesting piece of info. The actress playing Darlene is the voice of Alyx from the Half Life series :)

I think that is a benefit. I admit to being a bit bored during the first episode because many scenes were the same as the game so I felt like I was just watching someone else playing it. Hoping for better for future episodes as I have never managed to get past the first few hours in-game despite trying several times.

Yeah the actress that plays Marlene has done lots of voice work previously, mentioned it before but she was also the voice actor for Marlene in the game.
 
Woke always meant aware of injustices.

Then the outrage bros came along, and instead of blathering on about "Political correctness gone mad" they just started saying "woke/wokeness" instead to criticise the same sorts of things.

They particularly hate race swaps, because as I said earlier obviously melanin levels play a big part in somebody's acting ability.

Good first episode, haven't played the game but had a loose idea of what it was about. Recognised the daughter as she looks exactly like her mother.

Wouldn't have minded the fungus stuff explained a bit more.
