The Last of Us (HBO, from Creator of Chernobyl) - No game spoilers please

In this show, you need to get bitten, like a zombie.

I think there was a little nod to the spores like the game though, I think that's going to factor into things at some point.

She was infected. I’m not sure how, I don’t recall they explained it but she sure was.

They mentioned she was going into the city for a lot of treatment, that's why I'm pretty sure they're going to find out that Cordyceps has become airborne as above.

ahhh, read so many rave reviews about this show, and as a BIG fan of the game I watched this last night.

Mmmmmm, mixed if I'm honest.

The first half was brilliant, but then it went downhill. Yes, lots of scenes from the computer game which is a great nod and mark of respect, but I couldn't help feel as if it wasn't quite right. It's not a game, I'm not watching someone play a game, I'm watching a TV show based on a game. I think it was a car scene more than anything. Felt uncomfortable watching it.

also not sure about Ellie.

I'll watch it anyway. Now....they better not mess up Horizon Zero Dawn else I will be mad!

Flour from infected crops.

Guy was feeding her biscuits.

Joel forgot pancake mixture and then a cake, so they hadn't been eating anything with flour in it.

Doesn't really work as they'd have almost certainly eaten something with flour in it within the viable timeline if the old women was infected from it, though a bit hit and miss.

Yeah, there was a lot of talk about the old woman going to the city for treatment, so that makes more sense of where she caught the infection.

However there was also a lot of emphasis on the damn biscuits too!

Maybe I am missing your logic here but why would you feel "uncomfortable" watching the car scene?

Given most people who watch it won't have played or heard or the game, why does it matter the age of the actors? Is it just because this is a computer forum so more people will be familiar with the game? Or are they doing something daft like having 20 year olds play young teens? Does it ruin the story? (for those who have no knowledge of the game)

I haven't seen it yet, just curious what to expect as I'll be watching it with someone.

they've changed the story in that the 1st game had ellie as a young teen, around the age of joels daughter, in this shes introduced as an older teen, for me if they do it right it shouldn't affect the story as a bond can still develop.

I've not played the games but am aware of the story.

I thought the first episode was great, it made me immediately want more after finish watching.

I have no ties to the characters but think Pedro Pascal was very good and Bella Ramsey was fine. Only thing I have issue with is (for people who know the stories of both games):

As Joel is killed early in the second game it really will fall on Bella Ramsey as the story progresses so I hope by the end of the season people can really see her in the role

Will defninitely continue to watch and just cross my fingers they don't drag it out like the Walking Dead which I stopped on like season 6ish I believe. Fantastic to begin with but most seasons were rinse and repeat with developed plot armour for certain characters that was missing from the first few seasons which made it so good.

Edit: Hopefully the fact that as some members have indicated Bella Ramsey not being hot enough for a 14 year old girl doesn't prevent them from accepting her acting ability
