The Last of Us (HBO, from Creator of Chernobyl) - No game spoilers please

Only thing I have issue with is (for people who know the stories of both games):

As Joel is killed early in the second game it really will fall on Bella Ramsey as the story progresses so I hope by the end of the season people can really see her in the role

Oh God, that's a very good point. Like with the infection change, maybe they will make the change to keep Joel alive. I thought it was a bit silly killing him off so early when there could have been many more stories to Joel. And maybe Pedro may want to sign on for more than 1 and a bit series!

If not, I'm not sure a whether I'd be interested in watching Bella carrying the show on her own.

Yeah, there was a lot of talk about the old woman going to the city for treatment, so that makes more sense of where she caught the infection.

However there was also a lot of emphasis on the damn biscuits too!

They made 4 references where the main characters didn’t eat things with flour in it…the pancake, biscuits, muffin and then he forgot the birthday cake.

I think it’s logical to say the fungus spread by flour which explains how fast it got to everyone so quickly world wide.

There are so many issues with that though. On a large scale infected flour would be staggered in all kinds of different timelines in the supply chain amongst other things.

There are holes in every theory if you dig deep enough. In a show where there are only 9 episodes, I think spending 4 chances mentioned about the flour element strongly suggests it is the culprit. It seems pointless to keep bringing it up otherwise to me.

Shame only options to watch it is Sky/NOW - I'd forgotten how much ads ruin the experience of watching a show like this.

Aye. Even on NOW where there are no actual adverts to break it up, they still have that stupid title break to signify where ads would be. Completely breaks the flow of an episode up. Really don't see the point in having them.

Episode 1 very good opening scenes first 30 mins. Less impressed with the remainder all very generic.
TBF - the opening 30 minutes is all very generic 'outbreak' formula, it just elevates itself with good performances and strong tension. It does tail off in the 2nd half agreed but overall I really liked the first episode and keen to watch more.

Casting all seems decent, seems to be a lot of controversy about Ellie's casting, she seemed good enough, least we dodged a bullet with Ellen/Elliot Page.
