The Last of Us (HBO, from Creator of Chernobyl) - No game spoilers please

I'm gonna binge it when it's all out I think. I hate waiting. First episode was Brill tho.

I'm definitely finding the experience significantly worse for the wait and that due to my work schedule at the moment I can only watch it live without control over ads - otherwise have to wait 2-3 days or so to watch it. Definitely doesn't do the show a service watching it this way.

I quite enjoyed the first episode, especially before things changed.

Episode two also seems quite good so far, though I've not seen it all yet.

Was thinking the woman plays Marlene looked and sounded like your doll from the game, turns out it is her, which is a neat tie in, 2 enjoyable episodes so far, anyone else kind of get early walking dead vibes ? or maybe just because its like a post apocalyptic zombie type show

I knew it was coming but

i’m gutted Anna Torv is no longer in it

Yeah thought the same but the show runners have stated they are are sticking close to get source material. So won't be a TWD running forever. I don't mind them padding it out within reason.

A little bit, but mainly no. TWD idea of a post apocalyptic show was running around forests and living in Wimpey housing estates, TLOU have us seeing cities in ruins and a much more real and gritty idea of what society would look like.

The cities are in ruin because they bombed them though. TWD didnt have that story line.

It was also cheap to film in a forest.

I would have liked to have seen them visit some cities, food/warehouse runs etc.

Maggie and Neegans new series is dead city, so maybe we'll get some action there. Bored of zombies in forests now!

Indeed. I made my other half watch it and she fell asleep near the end. I suspect when ep2 comes out it will be another argument. Trying to watch stuff separately is such a chore...

Having not played the game, I was hyped for this. I really liked it, which was good considering the expectations were high. I didn't realise it was going to fast-forward 20 years though. I enjoy all the breakdown-of-society stuff. We obviously saw some of it... but it was so quick it was more like (as my girlfriend said) "Oh look American's being stupid and not doing what they're told again" because at the end of the day if everyone stayed home it would have been easier, no? :p

I do think the facts behind the fungus thing is not clear at all though. As above, I've not played the game and had I not read about it slightly, it's easy to forget the 60s prelude news show and end up just thinkig you're in another zombie show. Like why when the girl turned up at the QZ weren't the police testing her wearing any protection?

Made my other half watch it. She stopped watching it properly and played around on her ipad after seeing the first zombie and went "oh god no, its another zombie thing" :( Will try and get her to watch ep 2.

No one answered my question. If Joel was scared of Tess when he knew she was infected… And they were both scared of Ellie initially when seeing her bite.. why do the two cops in the QZ not care about getting close to the infected girl that walks in?

Well it's their job for one. They've probably become slightly numbed to the infected. Joel and Tess spend most of the time only seeing the more transformed infected (and trying to avoid them at great risk) so are understandably more scared of them probably.

But is there no risk to them? That's what's a bit confusing.
