The Last of Us (HBO, from Creator of Chernobyl) - No game spoilers please

I loved it. These kind of episodes are what I loved about The Walking Dead until that went completely wayward. The episode based around Bob Stookey for example. Slow down the pace, add in a great soundtrack and take a chracter where they need to go without muddying the epidsode with other characters drama. Some shows drag this stuff out for seasons, run ning away from the source, and never resolve it. For me I prefer it this way given the fleeting nature of the character in the base material.

Nice to hear some Max Richter in this episode too.

Interesting third episode, mixed thoughts from me throughout but it won me over by the end.

I’m really glad that they took the:

gay romance - which I concede did immediately cause me to thing ‘meh - token diversity tickbox’…

… and actually did something really good with it.

The dynamic would not have been the same between a man and a woman. It built on that, then delivered something excellent and emotional.

So yeah, very bold for them to have done that - I think it was excellent and I’ll remind myself to have a bit of patience before I start thinking of ‘tickboxes’.

Deffo dividing opinion on this episode - they must have saved a fortune doing this one.

Lots of source material and areas to go through, we didn't need a an hour long episode of a short run spent on bill and Frank. Would've been better interspersed with Joel and Ellie progress

I don’t mind it, it tells a human story but I saw it coming the second he brought out the dinner with the wine.

Oh the other hand, it kinda does feels like a filler but it is nice to see a human survival story in such a world where a couple of people managed to live and not merely survive.

(I’ve not played the game up to this point)

One that did bug me was why did Bill think standing in the middle of the open street to use his rifle was the best spot?

Bugged me as well - maybe wasn't clearly thinking if he was protecting Frank but for someone with his survivalist background, experience and so on it made absolutely no sense especially as the town had several vantage spots with good cover.

I did say that to a friend! He had a scope too, there was no reason to be out in the open.

Wow episode 3 was incredible, really enjoyed that from start to finish, I could really feel the story of survival and human loneliness. Bills actor was really good.
Only question is when she carved the infected open on the head was she looking for something or just curious?

On the nature of daylight has made every program it's been featured in, this episode was no exception. Castle Rock and The Handmaid's tale are the other two that spring to mind instantly.

Nah I'm not buying it. This is radically different and they have embellished the point far too much for me.

This was a waste of time and a waste of an episode. Is nothing safe from over the top obvious stretching of pushing an agenda.

They didn't have to do this but they did. Disappointed is an understatement
