The Last of Us Part II

I don't own a PS4 anymore, I generally don't tend to keep consoles too long but after reading through the story line then spending today going through a 10 hour cutscene compilation on youtube, it seems very disappointing.

I absolutely loved TLOU, the gameplay was okay but the main draw was the characters and storyline, which seem totally horrendous in this.

Very disappointing :(.

How can you say that?! You haven't played it!!!!!

EDIT:

This reminds me of the time when batman arkham knight was released and was missing loads of effects like rain drops and AO on the PC, well documented but apparently we were all wrong because we didn't have both the console and PC version like he did therefore we weren't allowed to make comments about the missing PC effects :o

Jesus I hope so! Borrowed a Pro and bought a copy of this to play as I loved the first one back when I had a PS4. Seriously sounds like a plane gearing up to take off, the fan sounds horrific. My Xbox One X in comparison is silent, really has me worried for the PS5. I hope they've learnt from this. It's shocking.

Yeah you'll need to ask one of those forum members with the elusive 'whisper quiet' pros if you can borrow theirs :)

The main draw for The Last of Us was the story, the gameplay was meh imo.

The gameplay in the sequel isn't a whole lot better, so that again leaves the story as the most important aspect, and as he pointed out he sat through hours worth of cut scenes. You don't need to personally experience 100% of a thing in order to know whether or not you like it.

One area that part 2 has really improved on the original is the score, it's subtle but much more noticeable, really helps with the dark atmosphere building in the first act. Part 1 there was quite a separation between the cut scenes and the gameplay sections, but it feels a lot more seamless now, the dialogue and score during the gameplay is driving the story forward a lot more, rather than being bits of story interspersed with gameplay sections.

You'd definitely miss out on the experience if you're just watching cutscenes on YouTube. Some of the incidental, optional sections are really excellent.

Don't think so.

Grounded was released later for the first game. When that launched survivor was the hardest difficulty as well.

Wouldn't be surprised if they release grounded with the ps5 remaster.

Yes, I've just discovered this it is not. There are many save checkpoints. Though, I'm puzzled on Survivor from the tutorial hints. I can be crouching, not one bit of movement and the clickers see me. This never happened in the first game.
Yet the game says they cannot see you.

I've literally never moved and they spot me going mental. Full fungus head.

Not only that, in the first game I could outrun clickers if things got out of hand. This aint happening in this version. They'll outrun me.

My 1200 model is whisper quiet with the game. Hardly any sound at all like every other game. A few hours playing now and it's not been sweating.

So many awesome details in the game though. I'm really loving the physics.

It's no technical revolution, but smashing windows to get into areas really adds to the experience.

I played through TLOU a couple of weeks ago and I'm loving the extra detail and interactivity that this generation has enabled. It doesn't have the feeling of taking place on a film set anymore.

My god, sometimes I hate what game developers do to console games at times. They gimp camera movement to intentionally make awareness harder. My controls are at 10 and it's still too slow to turn.

This same crap happened in Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

About two hours in, enjoying it so far! Amazing graphics, looks like they've pushed the PS4 a fair bit. Very slow pace which is good, interested to see how the story pans out as I've ignored all spoilers for this so far.

Few hours in, I've avoided any spoilers but impresses are so far that the visuals and audio are amazing, the immersion factor here is mad. It's such a unique experience like when you play games like Red Dead, you feel you're just playing a game. When you play this you feel like you're surrounded, it's trippy almost I can't explain it. This game is certainly best played with headphones and an OLED.

I really like it, the graphics are great and for me it gets survival horror gameplay spot on.

For god sake, what have they done to the controls... The first game was never as clunky and laggy as this. I feel like I'm playing with drunk controls that take forever to respond.
