Even Ronaldo isn't bigger than a top tier football club and he needs to realise that.

I hope he goes to be honest. I know he scored a lot of goals last season but it was at a detriment to everyone else. We went from 73 goals for in 20-21 to 57 in 21-22 in the league.

If the owners were the driving force behind bringing him back and they are on the hook for his crazy wages, its not too much of a stretch to imagine they could issue an order that he plays as much as he wants.

I wonder if EtH would basically say "im leaving" if they did that though. Doesn't strike me as a man to suffer fools.

Yeah, its good to see someone who is so proactive and exacting with what he expects from players.

My big fear is Ronaldo. I worry that he will come back, not like being told what to do and the powers that be will tell EtH he has to indulge Ronaldo.

Unless ETH is telling fibs, he's keen to use him and thinks he can play in the system. I think that's true to an extent. Haller was good there.

I'm not too worried about the owners trying to force ETH to play him, they'd rather finish 4th and Ronaldo will leave in a year - although there was talk of triggering his contract extension!

For all Ronaldo's faults, he will be desperate to win something so should make a good effort - though that may be a tall order in ETH's first season.

I would still rather he left though, for the reasons you stated. It stops a potential problem further down the line.

Guys come on...

It was just the Singapore cup. And Martial is going to play left wing to CR7.

I think if we win our next game I'm pretty sure that will be two trophies already under EtH. Exciting times ahead.

Adam, is that you?? :p I hope your positivity is well founded.

Martial was close to the golden boot in 19/20. He was out for a month at the beginning of the season as well. He was a 1 in 2 that season. There is no doubt he has the talent but he needs the right coach to get it out of him.

If he does turn up this season. It is almost like a free transfer compared to last.

Close? He finished 6 goals off the top scorer...

Martial isnt good enough to be playing for a club that has ambitions to close the gap on the top two. Since that season he's scored 5 goals in the league and none in la liga.

Just you wait. Big season coming up for Martial. Big season.

Martial is one of those players that shows exceptional ability now and again but never delivers consistently, yet. How many coaches has he been through at Utd......were they all the wrong coaches?

I mean, yes, they were all the wrong coach for whatever reason but there is little to suggest that Martial will suddenly fix his biggest issue which is his mentality no matter the coach. Hes the sort of player that annoys the fans (and I assume the managers) because of his lazy style and the fact that he is so capable when he is on form. When hes not on form that lazy style (and actual laziness at times) makes it so hard to keep giving him chances.

Martial has basically had 3 managers, LvG, Jose and Ole. He did great under LvG had good spells under Jose but was dropped for megaflop Sanchez during one of his best runs. Under Ole he had his best season yet and then his worst.
