The Manchester United Club Thread **Sponsored by Comedy Central**

There’s no evidence of that, they announced they were looking at their options a few months ago.

People are generally delighted Ronaldo has left, regardless of what the Glazers are doing.
They are now, that's for sure. His interview has at the very least sped that process up

but do we want oil money? Personally, at this moment, I couldn't care less. I want someone who can sort out Carrington, Old Trafford and invest in the squad. I think our pull had improved somewhat under ETH as players can see his vision and how its started to work. Having new owners with a vison of their own to improve Manchester United and get it back to where it was years ago. Hell, I would even take Mafia money right now. Pretty sure theres a family somewhere with that sort of cash under the mattress, ****, even some Mexican cartel would do me.

Love the honesty here.

Suddenly all the man u fans are happy with Ronaldo because he's forced the man u owners to sell up.

You couldn't write this. Just as fickle as all the others

No they're not. The same idiots who fawned over Ronaldo to the end are the ones that are peddling that as their latest "Ronaldo is the GOAT" proof. We have a lot of fans. I'm pretty sure I have heard some of them say that Ronaldo should have been running the team and deciding tactics over the manager because hes the GOAT.

The vast, vast, vast majority of United fans think hes a complete **** and are glad to see the back of him.

What has surprised me is the number of people who actually think Ronaldo has exposed anything. We knew everything he said. We have done for years. Other players, fans and people around the club have said it for years. Ronaldo was just putting that in to try and pretend he wasn't an entirely self-centred snake and "just had the best interests of the club at heart".

Yes but hearing it come from him in the way he did it has put a huge amount of weight behind it and exposed the poor management of United for a lot more people than just the vast majority of the fans.

He may well have caused the owners to sell asap but he has also created very serious damage to the club and in some people's eyes, rightfully so. So many clubs out there are completely hollow now with zero personality and hopefully this causes them all to look up and listen to the fans and players more instead of just making as much money for the board as possible while treating players like cattle.

Would be extremely hypocritical to advocate a buyer from oil after all the bashing city and Newcastle have got.

Will be interesting if another party from a different background.

It is wrong but that ship has sailed a long long time ago. The Roman purchase should have been stopped all those years ago. Now it is just unstoppable. The world is corrupt, just look at our own government. Even at council level. We are all greedy at the end of the day. We all disagree with the world cup but everyone is playing in it and we are all watching it.

Yes you can put a budget cap on wages etc but the big money teams will find other ways. Spending huge amounts on infrastructure, academies etc.

Roy Keane talking about Ronaldo on ITV now. He's absolutely deluded, shifting blame off Ronaldo and onto ETH. Strange that he's such a fanboy.

but hes got a point why didnt they let him go if he doesnt fit into ETHs play style and pressing

Nobody knows exactly what happened, the well connected Man Utd journalists all said ETH was happy for him to leave. ETH gave him chances and Ronaldo looked poor every time.

I genuinely think he had no serious offers in the summer. His salary demands are huge and a lot of clubs just wouldn't want him because of the circus that follows.

Loving the call for oil money, just shows that football fans only have morals when it isn’t beneficial to their team.

I certainly wouldn't be comfortable with Man Utd being owned by an Arab state, but then I don't really have much say in the matter either way. I definitely wouldn't celebrate them like the Newcastle fans have done.

My first choice would actually be oil money, in the form of NBIM (the Norwegian oil wealth fund) - not sure they'll be up for it though :p They make the Saudis look poor.

INEOS would be good too although Ratcliffe will drive a hard bargain and the Glazers are going to overvalue everything.

An American-led consortium appears most likely at this early stage, which isn't necessarily ideal - look at Chelsea. Early days, I'm sure there will be a lot of interest if the price is right.

There are many reasons. Did Ronaldo want United to subsidise his wages to help a move? Did United want a transfer fee? Were United trying to find a replacement and didn't want him to leave until they had? Did anyone who Ronaldo was willing to move to actually want Ronaldo?

Last thing I want. I don't care about competing with City on spending. I don't want an oil state running us.

I honestly think that in the next 10 or so years America will get super into football and there could be a massive power struggle between Europe and the US. The US will ruin the game as well. Make it even more money driven, advertiser friendly and generally more ****.

I'm not, I haven't watched a second of it and nor will I, because I'm not a hypocrite. Then you saying you would swallow an oil or state owner after all the bleating you have done about such owners. I would rather find another sport to follow.

For what, being a ****?

In a round about way, yes. Was for knocking the fans phone out of their hands. Stupid punishment despite my dislike for Ronaldo. Assume the FA were scared of appearing to be sensible because the boy whos phone he broke has autism or something.
