Actually he's done better than ten Hag this season in the league.
Is Ligue 1 more of a farmers league than Eredevisie?
Pochettino did same in Paris.

Hmmm - behind the scenes moves. Really ;)

Ineos are the defacto owner and will make the decision I think it's logical that they will bring in their own man.
Personally, like I said before - I'm ambivalent about the manager appointment. I'd like to support ten Hag but this year has been so bad, the worst in my memory that I feel he's on borrowed time. Ineos will be judged on how they reshape the squad.

If Ineos appoint Poch then they are just as deluded as the Glazers imo.

I have given them the benefit of the doubt considering how bad they have done with Nice but they will be true to form if they appoint Poch. I would rather have Jose back!

Actually Jose is about the best option considering all the other options!

You tell me which one is more farmers league? Yeah he really smashed the league didn't he ? Did he have as much injuries? And having to play a midfielder in defence?

Don't get me wrong some decisions ten hag made didn't agree on like consistently picking Rashford when should have been dropped long ago
French League and Dutch League aren't the best. ten Hag did a better job with Ajax no doubt.
Pochettino took Chelsea from 12th to 6th and gained 19 points this season. ten Hag shipped 5 places and 15 points. Those are the facts. You can argue about the reasons all you like. Don't get me wrong I wanted ten Hag to succeed and if stays I'm ok with it. I just think that it now looks unlikely and a lot of that has to be on ten Hag himself.

INEOS might well view Poch as the man to get the best out of the likes of Rashford and Sancho, too.

Neville was saying years ago he seems the most logical fit for Man Utd manager in many ways - and I thought the same.

No first choice left backs , constantly having to change defence end up having to play a midfielder in defence

if sancho and rashford remain at the club then we are no further forward. sancho is a toxic brat, rashford blows hot and cold and when he's cold he offers the sum total of **** all squared to the team. both should be out the door before ten hag and certainly before any new manager arrives.

I agree the players need an overhaul too - but that is easier said than done. Many are on huge contracts.

Just because the players are problematic doesn't mean we should stick with a busted flush of a manager too.

but sticking with toxic, temperamental players is only going hamper any new manager. there'd be no point, imo, replacing ten hag while retaining the services of the likes of Sancho. allowing horrid toxic rats back onboard just because the manager has changed will not have a positive outcome.

Rashford and Sancho will just brainwash all the younger players into the same ways. You need to clear out and start a fresh even if it means getting rid of talent.

You have completely bought into the narrative. It offers some mitigation but not does not absolve fully.

Malacia was injured at the start of the season. Shaw has always been fragile. We let Alvaro Fernandes go to Benfica on loan and brought in Reguillon who we then released in January without replacing even though Malacia was still out and Shaw just recovering from 3 months out. Injuries happen. I've seen United playing Michael Carrick at CB in years gone by but we didnt slip to 8th. Injuries aside the last few weeks of the season were a disaster. We surrendered leads at Brentford and Chelsea when we had Maguire and Varane playing. We drew with relegated Burnley at home. Thats 7 dropped points which would have given us a stab at 5th. Add to that that none of ten Hags signings can be considered a success (yet). He's not really made a convincing case for himself.

The squad is toxic, most of us accept that but you work with what you've got and I feel he should have done better. I repeat, If he stays then fine I'll back him but at this stage I don't see we have that much to lose by changing. Anyway lets focus on Saturday and hope we can at least give them a game!

Manager thoughts, assuming ETH goes:

I will caveat this by saying I consider ETH a failure and don't particularly rate him as a coach, so most managers are a potential improvement.

I would be delighted with Pochettino, I've always been a fan and while he hasn't set the world alight in terms of trophies, he's never had the ideal setting for it - yet. Man Utd would be a great project if INEOS can work something out with him.

Tuchel I am on the fence about, he seems more of a short term manager and not really someone you'd choose for a longer term project. I think it's less likely.

De Zerbi would be interesting, more of an unknown quantity, but he's done well at Brighton overall.

Potter is a bit meh, but he was highly rated and in a similar sort of situation to De Zerbi.

Southgate surely can't happen.

similar thoughts....assuming ETH goes

Southgate - not for me
Potter - shown nothing that makes me think he's the man
De Zerbi - bit of a wild card
Tuchel - Appears to be very hot headed at times, not sure
Poch - 3/4 years ago - I was 100% yes for him, now I guess he's probably the best option out there but not convinced

Poch has quietly started to turn that basket case of a club around. Imo given time he would more than do the same at Man Utd.

Really. They were incredibly lucky to beat us at the bridge. They nearly lost to Forest and got absolutely battered against Arsenal. That was just in April.

They had a few smash and grab results that got them to 6th. If we didn't lose to Chelsea like we did we would be in 6th now not them and they would be in 8th.

Honestly rather have Jose back instead of everything that is available.

You did lose to Chelsea though and I like how you are ignoring your smash and grab results :D Poch is a better manager than ten hag and should have been the appointment at the time, especially with your squad, I'm glad he wasn't though :p

He really isn't. Poch bottled a league in France and the year Leicester won it too. ETH has been impeccable bar the season that has just gone. You do not become a rubbish manager over night. He has the second highest points total since Fergie left and he did it in his first season.

Yes he played more pragmatic football a bit like Ole did and when they both tried to play on the front foot. The players just cannot do it and collapsed
