How does one shave every day?

Ive been doing this for a week now and it just damn hurts and i can never seem to get it completely smooth.

Ive also got jet black beard hair too so it always looks like i have a 5 O'clock shadow.

So hopw can i remove it more Smoothly, and painlessly when shaving every day.

I have both a Merkur and a Mach 3

I only used to shave every 2 months or so :D

Im still waiting for mine :(

Traditional Shaving is absolutely **** poor are getting some stock in. Its been more than a week since I put my order in and nothing yet.

However on a plus point I did get my popular blade sample pack from Connaught. Actually pretty rapid service but obviously cant use them

That's a shame they've always been good for me. Try executive shaving as an alternative perhaps.

Right, I took the plunge and got a EJ DE89L with some Derby blades. Depending on how I get on a good brush and soap/cream could be on the Christmas list!

I got a brush for £8 from NKDMAN branded HJM german brush :).

Don't bother spending £80 on a brush, a brush is a brush. I grabbed some Truefitt and Hill cream too, just as a starter. I might explore some more adventurous brands for cream next time, this one isn't scented.

I found a cheap badger brush from Shaving Shack to be much much better than a bristle brush. So they aren't all the same :)

I wouldn't say a brush is a brush. You should at least be buying a pure badger brush. It really affects how much lather is produced and you'll find a good brush will get a much better lather with less cream

You're right though you don't need to spend £80. Don't go too cheap either though. Something like these will be much better than a synthetic brush and won't break the bank.

Well inspired by reading the last few pages of this thread I dug out my old Merkur razor. I'd been put off it because, like dmpoole, the last time i used it I nearly shaved my face off. I took my time with it this time and the results were much better, no blood bath!

Now to buy some new soap, blades and aftershave, fun times.:D

im in need for a new razor, ive been using a old parker razer for about 25 years, so i think im in need of a new 1 but there are so many to choose from now and dont have a clue.

my beard is course and quite thick could any 1 please recomend me a new razor.

Quick question, what do you do with the blades after shaving? Do you take the blade out and let it dry, or do you use a new blade each time you shave? Also, if you re-use blades how long do you reckon they last on average? Obviously this depends on how tough your beard is and how often you shave but I'd be interested to know.

4-5 shaves. I recommend removing the blade after each shave and cleaning it... removed mine yesterday to find a massive clumb of hair/cream dried up which could explain my last shaves crapness.

The blades are so cheap though I'll probably do 2-3 shaves per blade.

I thought I'd post my meager collection since I'm a little bored.

I'd quite like a new brush at some point and maybe an Edwin Jagger bowl. Also tempted by a straight razor but not sure I'd actually use it.

:)

I stay away from after shave when clean shaving, the burn!

I grabbed some after shave balm (Billy Jealousy - Shaved Ice).

What's that sandalwood cream like? I was looking at getting some originally but it was sold out.

Ha, I don't really have much of a burn using the T&H stuff. Its really very nice.

I've not even used the Sandalwood yet tbh. The fragrance is definitely an acquired taste. I'm not sure on it tbh as I prefer lighter Citrus ones for the morning.

I would go for a merkur slant, it can handle thick beards whilst not being silly aggressive.

Should be idea id imagine.
