Was speaking to my dad about this and apparently he has my gradnpas DE somewhere so im going to ask him to look for it and give it a go :) will post pics if he finds it

Ok so I'm going to order some shaving kit later, can someone cross-check the below and suggest recommendations

Razor: Merkur 34C (£30)
Blades: Derby (Heard you can get 100 for £10?)
Alom block: I need a decent brand
Pencil: Recomendations on a budget?
Badger brush: Could do with recomendations, again on a budget would like to get the full badger brush.
Shaving cream: Any recomendations?
Post Shave: I'll use up my existing moisterisers for now

If someone could spec me the above all from one store it'd be greatly appreciated, bearing in mind any potential discount codes, quidco and delivery costs.

Thanks in advance...

I'd rather buy Feather blades than Derby - compared to Feathers a Derby actually feels quite blunt.

I'd recommend Proraso as a decent soap (the green one).

I agree, I've been using feathers I got free with a purchase from shaving shack, they seemed to last forever, could use them 1-3 times.

With the Derbys remaining from a 100 pack I have to use a new one every shave and even a new blade is scratchy, just doesn't seem to cut as cleanly.

If your just starting out perhaps buying a sample pack of blades is a better idea than splashing out a large number of a single brand you have no experience with yet.

Just had my first shave, face is a bit tender but think that was mainly my technique, first pass I didnt lather up with enough water, got it second go.

Does anyone know how long the sandalwood shaving cream and badger brush set have been out of stock for at TheShavingShack.com? It seems a bargain for what you get?

I'm going to order these below and use up my existing Botanics shave gel before buying some Proraso cream. I've got tonnes of this Botanics to use but I'll use the badger brush to apply it.

- Shaving Brush Drip Stand (Clear) £4.49
- Merkur 34C Heavy Duty Classic £29.99
- Alum Block £6.69
- Shaving Shack "Buccaneer" Pure Badger Shaving Brush £16.49
- 10 Feather & 10 Derby Extra & 10 Israeli Made Double Edged Razor Blades £7.19
- Styptic Pencil £3.99
- FREE 10 Feather Double Edged Razor Blades (Only 1 Free Offer Per Order!)

Because of the free gift offer if you spend £9.99 I'm thinking of ordering in seperate batches to get the most free blades possible and claim 8% on every order even though it'll work out more expensive as it's £4 per delivery, the 10 feather blades are worth more than the delivery cost.

Any thoughts?

Expensive blades, though I can appreciate that you probably want to sample a few. I would highly recommend Feathers. Just be sure to apply very little pressure when shaving.

Ditch the Styptic pencil :)

I have just ordered a Slant Bar to complement my HD and Futur. £90 worth of Razors  . I have still saved a bundle, and have enjoyed better shaves than with the multi-bladed nonsense however.

styptic pencils are the devils work! I tried one once and never again.
I'd rather my face bleed than put them stinging nettle sticks on it.
