Does anyone get red bumps / blemishes on there face for the few days after shaving?

I probably had my worst shave today, severe razor burn on my neck with a new Feather blade in my Merkur 34C today.

I've asked for some Mitchells Wool Fat shaving foam for Christmas so hopefully Santa delivers!

Moisturise as soon as you have finished shaving.

Ordered the following

1x Edwin Jagger Chrome-Plated Lined Handle Double-Edge Safety Razor
1x Edwin Jagger Ivory-Coloured Plastic Handle Pure Badger Hair Shaving Brush

Now I just need to find a cheap Ivory stand because I begrudged paying about 7 quid for one delivered, and also some Sandlewood cream/soap when I decide what I want :D

Also gotta wait 2-4 weeks for the brush but nevermind Im in no rush :)

Also got some Bluebeards Revenge shaving cream.

i have found my new favourite (value) blade. Astra superior platinum. very smooth, no nicks, no weepers, no tugging and still dirt cheap - 10p per blade. Vs the derby blades, they are so much more pleasurable to use, but perhaps dont give quite as good a final result, but the lack of irritation is brilliant so they win for me.

I'm currently using a Gillette Fusion ProGlide and it gives a really good shave, however no matter which shaving gel I use I always seen to get red marks on my neck, any advice of a product or different shaving gel to stop this?

I cant use a fusion, it garanteed to give me irritation (in growns / red bumps).

Switched to DE shaving (£3.70 razor from boots, 75p palmolive shave stick £4 brush) and i no longer get any irritation. Got an upgrade coming for christmas from the wife too.

Just been looking at the growth pattern on my neck..

the very bottom grows upover for about an inch, then it grows in from sides to centre.. then above that grows downover. lol

The big selling point of multi blade shavers is the whole lift & cut deal, which is also the biggest problem with them, you basically cut the hair below the skin level, which = irritation & lumps etc.

Best advice is get a de razor & try it out, even if it's only a cheap thing from boots or something just to see if you get on with one.

Thats my weapon of choice, you can use even cheap and nasty razor blades you get at wilkinsons for 5 for 50p and get a great shave.
Turn it right the way up to 6 and your a real man.

Right this thread is hoooooge so apologies for asking what has probably been asked a million times.

I'm still using a Mach 3 and I'm sick of buying expensive blades.

Can anyone recommend a similar replacement with cheaper blades?

I can - I use a Merkur Progress long handle when I have the time (about 10 mins or so)

When I don't I use a Gillette Sensor Excel (about £5 from Boots) and Aldi Lacura 3 blade cartridges. ;)
Bang on the money at around £2.60 for 10 blades.

The above?

Looks out of my league that one! Could probably kill someone with it!

Isn't the Excel a crapper razor than the Mach 3?
