Can anyone reccomend some good melodic death metal bands and albums?

I've been listening to arch enemies "burning bridges" and it rocks my socks off. Best album I've heard in ages.

More like this please, perhaps some reccomendations of some bands that are a bit more obscure as I can easily find popular stuff on review sites etc.

Thanks!

hmm Do you like Gothic Melodic Death Metal?

I can whole heartedly recommend Draconian's 'A Rose For the Apocalypse'

For Melodic Death metal you cannot beat Opeth.

The best albums are: 'My arms, your hearse' and 'Ghost Reveries'.

Some Djent may excite you too.

The Devin Townsend Project
Skyharbour
TesseracT

- these are my favourite bands at the moment!

This is my Favourite song at the moment!

hmm I would agree that Opeth are awsome, but its not melodic death.

Melodic death has a slow tempo and is quiet heavy. Opeth is a mixture of a few genres, but I wouldnt say melodic death is one of them.

They are more progressive death metal (depending on the album I suppose).

Taken from wikipedia: Opeth has consistently incorporated progressive, folk, blues, classical and jazz influences into their usually lengthy compositions, as well as noticeable influences from black metal[1] and death metal.

One of my favourite albums ever, the guitar work is insanely wonderful :D
Only MDM I really know is COB and Norther but you've probably heard of them :p

Been listening to Sabaton recently, gets me into the mood to play RO2 :D

This made me laugh.

A review of Mettalica's new album.

Infact it sounds worse than 0/5!

This is another review!

I managed to listen to the whole album. It was so bvery bad. It just sounds like metallica jamming a Lou reed just talks over the top of them. No structure to the lyrics what-so-ever.

Im not holding this agianst Metallica though, they did a decent job!

It made me laugh that you can't spell the name of the worlds biggest rock band.
Anyway, it is not Metallica's latest album, it is an album they play on because they were asked to do so by Lou Reed and are probably regretting it every day.

It made me laugh that you not only called them a rock band but also the worlds biggest... You know if we're picking things apart based on semantics and all...

Are they not one of the worlds biggest rock bands along with Iron Mayden, AKDC and Kis?
And yes they are a rock band, put a genre label on them all you want but they are a rock band.

Sounds good, but spoiled by the stupid vocals. I have no problems with harsh vocals and growling but can't stand it when bands include them just for the sake of it. Plus the guy can't sing for ****.

There are actually 2 vocalists, might take a bit of getting used to. Also youtube kills quality. Personally I love the vocals :)

I dunno, bands like Textures have vocalists that can growl and sing way better without sounding completely out of place - the vocals in those Vildhjarta songs sound almost tacked on.

Generally speaking, vocals in metal are pretty awful, but that's pretty much part of the attraction I guess. It is however no excuse for not getting a few basics right and creating vocals that blend with with music, not detract from it. I mean, worst comes to worst it can just be considered another instrument, but I bet you'd be pretty annoyed if one of the band members of an otherwise decent band started playing his instrument like a complete novice and completely out of tune - in this respect I don't see vocalists as being any different. Not expecting mindblowing vocals, just a competent vocalist.

Metal vocals that are amazing though:

(damn youtube and it's crappy compression)
