* The Metal Thread *

Tell him,I'm sure that Geoff Tate,Ronnie James Dio,Klaus Meine,John Garcia,Rob Halford,Robert Plant,Ian Gillan,Matt Barlow,Joey Belladonna,John Bush,Phil Mogg,Don Dokken,Steve Grimmet,David Coverdale,Glenn Hughes,Graham Bonnet,Bruce Dickinson,Maynard James Keenan,Phil Anselmo,Eddie(Messiah)Marcolin,Biff Byford,Ozzy(early Sabbath era especially),Tony Martin,Ray Gillen,James LaBrie,Corey Taylor,Bonn Scott,Seb Bach,Chris Cornell,Paul Stanley,Pepper Keenan,Mike Patton,Jeff Keith,Howard Jones,Gary Barden,Jeff Scott Soto + many many more,will all be relieved not to be thought of as one dimensional aggressive singers,not to say they can't be aggressive when required.

It's pretty much a mainstream opinion that Metal Vocalists can only perform in an aggressive style,people in the know,who have listened to and collected all types of metal over the years are well aware that the range and diversity of vocal talent and musicianship in general within metal bands is astounding and second to none.

Yeah, I know, I was actually there when it started.

5 pages and no mention of Orange Goblin? What's up with you lot? Start off with the album Frequencies From Planet Ten and work along their albums from there. Small taster:

Really enjoyed that, thanks. Reminds me of The Atomic Bitchwax. Get a load of this:

New ISIS album, "Wavering Radiant" is pretty awesome, especially the opening track:

I was a bit underwhelmed by the album, I have to concede. I missed the post-rock-esque build-ups of Panopticon or Oceanic.

I'm looking forward to the Greymachine album, which is imminent: Aaron Turner and Justin Broadrick [Jesu, Godflesh] collaborating; the results are bound to be interesting at the very least, if the song Vultures Descend is anything to go by.

OI! Stop pimping my taxi services! :(

In other news everyone in this thread must come to Sonisphere! \0/

lol, good because I wouldnt trust someone I don't know to drive 30,000 miles to knebworth :)

(I'm sure you don't want someone you don't know in your car anyway :) ) Still tempted to go though, will have to meet up if I do. \m/

Another pimp for Sylosis, they own you. Awesome guitarists.

Emperor are my favourite metal band, black metal more specifically.

Some of the most well put together and atmospheric music I've ever heard, not just mindlessly screaming or being grotesque in lyrics. Oh and some of the Emperor lyrics are really good.

This live video from London 1999 is actually amazing.

Cosmic Keys and Into the Infinity of Thoughts are just amazing. Seriously, listen!

Of course the vocals aren't for everyone but the music itself cannot be faulted! It took me a good while to really get into them.
