* The Metal Thread *

Another Meshuggah fan here. I understand that to the uninitiated, they are repetitive and boring. I must admit this is what I thought at first, but it grows on you and eventually it just clicks and you can never get bored of it, you always hear something new each time. They have this indescribable groove; Do Not Look Down is a brilliant song.

I saw them this year in Glasgow and they were the best live band I've seen by far.

Slowly slowly introducing my girlfriend to meshuggah, will be worth it eventually right guys lmao?. She likes what shes heard so far which is a good sign :D

Depends on her music tastes really.
New Millenium Cyanide Christ, Rational Gaze, Shed or Bleed would be the best starting point IMO. Especially the video to NMCC and Rational Gaze. Toothbrush Mic FTW.

According to facebook Anaal Nathrakh have a new album due for release within the next 2 months.
Those who say that Meshuggah make others sound lame or bland should definitely give Anaal Nathrakh a try. :cool:

I like all types of metal from thrash metal to death metal to stoner metal and everything in between.

Meshuggah makes other bands seem lame...in terms of complexity.

My favourite band happens to be Pantera.

Thrash isn't my strong point but there are decent bands out there. Corporation 187 - Perfection in Pain is a great album but is lyrically immature. SkeletonWitch has some decent songs.

They're not overrated in the slightest, in my opinion they deserve even more praise than they receive. The simple fact is that a lot of people can't (or won't, because they don't have an open mind) get into them because of their extreme style. It's easy to listen to them for 1 min and say "what is this 'random noise'". It took me at least 2 years to get into them but now they are my favorite band by a LONG way.

Those are odd statements and I can't imagine they apply to anyone interested in this thread. It's the metal thread afterall!! I listen to stuff that make Meshuggah sound positively tame as I am sure many do.

Horse for courses is all it is. When I have listened to them in the past I end up thinking I could be listening to Opeth or At the Gates and so do that instead. They just don't instill any emotion in me.

That bored the crap out of me.

I can't listen to thrash anymore it just sounds immature somehow, like teenagers trying to be the loudest band.

Being immature and politically incorrect has always been a trait of many great metal bands, it's completely deliberate and often done cleverly with hilarious tongue in cheek humour, It's just another of the many facets of Metal music and one of the reasons why people love it so much.

Turning Metal completely toward PC'ness and maturity would literally rip the heart out of it!
