Very "Icon" album sounding, me likey! Although they did lose me massively with the tripe albums they released after "One Second".
 
Well, I just found pictures of David Beckham wearing Exodus and Iron Maiden t-shirts.

I remember him saying his two dogs were named after his favourite artists who are Snoop Dogg and Puff Daddy and he also loves Stevie Wonder.
Not once has he mentioned rock music in TV interviews and I've seen most of them being a fan.
 
I think those David Beckham photos are from a few years ago when it became trendy to wear 'rock' t-shirts. I can't remember who or when but I'm sure there were quite a few celebrities caught wearing band tees.

This may not be the best Devin song but it has to be up there with his best videos surely?

He may well have only recently discovered that genre of music, or he could be taking part in this trend to wear band t-shirts i.e. Topman / Burtons sell tshirt with The Clash and Sex Pistols etc.

I'm not saying you're an example of this, but why is there such a faux-status for being a fan of a band since the beginning? I was in a gig queue where a group were almost annoyed by the thought of a new wave of fans "*tut*I bet some of these people don't even own the first albums". :rolleyes:

They can take a while to get into because of their style. It took me a few years, but now they're my favorite band.

Advice I can give is be as open minded as possibe, listen carefully, and think of the vocals as another instrament (also reading the lyrics while listening is good). After a while you will start to notice the intricacies and complexity of the music, and just how amazing it is. You won't regret it :)

That is of course, assuming you like metal :p
 
As they have 11+ albums, it's a bit overwhelming where to start with them; would you mind listing 5/10 tracks that are your favourite or you feel are really worth listening to?

One can look at the top 5 most popular tracks on Spotify, but I've found that list is often misleading and can really miss out some killer tracks :)

The latter.
I remember him making fun of Schmeichel because he was into heavy metal and they wouldn't let him play his music on the bus or in the dressing room.

This. Even Miley Cyrus made a video defending the fact she was wearing a Maiden shirt once, you could tell she was reading her 'favourite' tracks off a cue card and didnt have a clue who they were...if you go to that much trouble to say you arent a poser, you're full of ****:D
 
If you want to get into meshuggah, I'd start with destroy erase improve then simply work your way through. Then you can go back to the pre destroy erase improve stuff but that material is very different to how they sound now.

I'd start with that album because its where they found the sound they've got now, then by following the albums from there in sequence you can see how they developed that sound.

DEI is also probably the "catchiest" and "easy to digest" of the meshuggah albums so a ideal starting point.

Or if you want to start at the top, get Catch 33 but you might find it offputting as its 1 long song so could be hard to digest. But bloody amazing.

Eames advice is good :) All of their albums are unique, it's hard to recommend one.

If I were to suggest one song to get into them, I'd say Bleed, I think that is the song that got me into them, but in my opinion obZen is their weakest album. (the one Bleed is on)
