The MPG Thread

Suzuki Swift 1.5 gives me 40mpg average, that says i have to thrash it to get any kind of decent speed out of it.

Avensis 2.0 D4D - 43mpg regardless of if I drive like a nun or like a 17 year old in a Fiesta...

1.8 Mitsubishi Carisma GDI
average 25.1 over 6000 miles

However if I drive it on the motorway I can average 43mpg..

Shows you how shocking my driving is around town.

Peugeot 2.0 XSI

31.7 mpg driving like a saint (mixed driving mainly B-Roads and motorway)
Driving normaly 27-28Mpg

I get 20mpg in my vauxhall calibra 8v 2L auto (This drops to about 17mpg in the colder winter months )

Driving slowly around a small rock.............I meant island :p

VW Golf 5 GTi (DSG)

27-29MPG around town (driving nicely).
37-40MPG on the motorway doing 70mph.
28-30MPG on the motorway driving like a tool.

Out of interest how many miles do you get out of a tank on the motorway?

My next car needs to be fun, but go further on a tank:p

I drove to Scotland from Cardiff in October 2007, and managed to get about 420miles out of it doing the speedlimit most of the time, before I got scared and put fuel in :)

Last weekend I drove to London, drove around the city centre quite a bit, drove to Watford and then back to Cardiff. Managed to do 345miles and the computer said 80miles left.

This afternoon I nailed every NSL sign on the A roads in South Wales, and did 80mph+ on the motorway and still averaged 27mpg which I thought was pretty good! Sport mode in this car is just way too much fun.

Thats why I like the GTI, its doesnt sound as nice as my ST, or have the steering feel, but it seems a way better car to live with day to day.

'99 Civic 1.4 Sport

Urban - 30 mpg
M'way - 40 mpg+
Average around 34 mpg with usually a bit over half mileage being urban.

Book:
Town mpg 29.7
Out of Town mpg 42.2
Average mpg 36.

In my scirocco, not a clue, but I drive it fairly infrequently so it could do 10mpg and I wouldn't really care.
In the Mondeo TDCI the average MPG on the computer is 52.7, a mix of motorway and back roads.

Im lacking a computer so will go on my rough figures.

Mk2 Mondeo 1.8 Zetec

£65 to fill the tank
at £1.18 a litre thats 55 litres
55 litres is 12ish gallons
400 miles round town + B roads to a tank, makes 33MPG
450 if I cruse allong A roads and duals etc, is 37MPG

Does that sound about right? Look a bit high to me, but I reset my trip every time i fill up and I always try to go from red light on to full tank, and always get 400-450
