The MPG Thread

i did lots of motorway miles a few weeks ago (silverstone test, then Gatwick run x2) and got 42mpg out of my Fiesta ST.

however i spent the last few days stuck in london traffic or racing down country lanes and its back down to 31mpg (avg with the motorway runs, so probably low 20s)

anyway who cares, petrol is cheap anyway. I went out last night, and spent enough money on booze to fill my car up for 300miles. Im not sure whats more fun, driving 300miles or going out in ****y Romford? I know what id rather do....

Drive 300 miles ... ;)

Varied driving (sometimes fast, sometimes slow), mostly driving to work (10 miles each way) and a bit of motorway too:

33.06MPG :D

FTO 24v 2.0 V6

Im happy with that!

In my old car Pulsar GTI i got 22.73

rarely get over 30 MPG on the motorway @ 75- 80 mph in its current state of tune 200sx btw. As for town driving not a clue im always on the motorway.

When I was using the car more, I was getting ~39-40 on the trip computer. I averaged something like 39.8 over 1500 miles to France and back.

However, at the moment £10 worth of fuel is lasting me over a week so it doesn't really matter.

Im lacking a computer so will go on my rough figures.

Mk2 Mondeo 1.8 Zetec

£65 to fill the tank
at £1.18 a litre thats 55 litres
55 litres is 12ish gallons
400 miles round town + B roads to a tank, makes 33MPG
450 if I cruse allong A roads and duals etc, is 37MPG

Does that sound about right? Look a bit high to me, but I reset my trip every time i fill up and I always try to go from red light on to full tank, and always get 400-450

More or less bang on what I get out of mine for same driving conditions.

day on motorway yesterday on zx10 sitting at 80mph constant got about 41mpg... I guess thats good :), I know 'a' roads are a lot less.

Weekdays
Fabia Estate 1.9SDI keeping it between 60-70mph i get between 60-65mpg (very light foot)

Weekends
Fabia vRS hammering it about 45mpg light footing it about 50mpg.

Fiesta 1.1 carb L Reg

Good weather, however hard I drive it, motorways or town driving: 48.* mpg every time like magic..

But, if it is cold and rainy, over a tank it goes down to30s for some reason :p

Honda Integra ~ 35MPG, although I got 37 last week on Super Unleaded.

70 miles a day doing around 75mph on Aroad and the M40.

Quite fancy a Honda Insight but I cant find one. 83 MPG book figure with many getting higher.
