ok i am pretty certain that come sunday night (dad gets back from china and i need to get him to ok my purchase) that i will be buying a winchest 90nm, prolly the 3200xp or 3500xp versions and this msi board and some ram.

now my question is whats the best ram to get to go with this board. i wanna overclock the winchester to the max btw :)

i heard conflicting results about the crucial ballistixs

anyway any advice is always welcome :)

ballistix run ok in this mobo however not as good as they do in non A64. OCZ on the other hand rocks big time in neo2.
The Gold is great but the EB is a flyer.

EB's a flyer if you can get hold of it...

I originally ordered 1GB 3700EB, but i have to change my order as they are discontinued i was told :(

Nice1 ;)

I wasn't sure what to get, so ended up changing my board to the Asus A8V (Rev2) and 1GB BallistiX PC4000... Hopefully i made the right choice, i'll no for sure in a few days as they were posted today :D

Now at 270x9.5 1:1 (2565 mhz)

Is this bandwidth score any good?

I had everything is bit's so i guess that helped me.

Hi, i have ordered the MSI K8N NEO2 with XP-120, same as you have.
Did you have to bend any of the pipes on the cooler to fit it ?
Did the GFX card fit well ? The pipes looked very close to the AGP port.
Did you bend just 1 of the capacitors or more, and was it safe to do ?

Sorry for so many questions, but i hope you help me out on this cuz i dont know if i should use another motherboard.

the winchester seems to be going well Steve. how doy ou find the temps?im not sure if its just the neo2 doing its nonsense but im reading max load(prime95) temps higher on the winnie than the fx-53 with less volts through the winnie????

You can see the problem with the XP-120 on the MSI.

I would be carefull bending that, and if it's still sort of applying pressure to the pipe, the cooler won't sit flat on the chip.

It would be better if the cooler worked on a srew down method, as it would bend it for you, and the cooler would sit flat.

Never fitted one on an MSI, but take care if you do.

Ok, to me that little bend on the capacitator doesnt look so bad.
Have you tried it on a EPoX EP-9NDA3+ S939 nForce3 250Ultra ? I might order this one instead if it works better. But it isnt listed here: http://www.thermalright.com/a_page/main_support_faq_motherboard_xp120_k8.htm

Have you fitted it on any Nforce3 s939 mb`s ?

I have seen/read several using this MSI mb with the XP-120 so i guess the cooler beeing close to the AGP isnt an Issue. Would be great if bluemoonmcfc or anyone could post a pic with the GFX card in AGP.

Does the fan stick out further down south than the pipes on the cooler ? Cant be more than 1mm space between the GFX card and the XP-120..

He did post more pictures.
See thread.
Huge pics at top, and cropped ones further down the thread.

The problems it has is the capacitor, and I think there is an issue with the very high corsair mem (stuff with lights on)

This is the other issue I have seen with it.
Posts like that seem rare, but I think you can see what the offending cap could do.
