A passive NB cooler should be fine, the NB doesn't seem to get hotter than any other chipset. It will get in the way of a 6800 with an arctic cooler though.

A Zalman passive should do the job as its a decent size, but these chipsets do get very hot.
I fitted a passive HS from an old dead via chipset board .. it was the same height as the standard one, and I can tell you, it got very hot .... luckily I have an x800XT-PE which I fitted an artic cooler too, I had to modify the artic cooler to clear the chipset stock cooler, which involved cutting and blanking the AC case, I removed the blanking plate and the AC now cools the chipset and graphics card very nicely
