The New European Super (borefest) League

really can't wait to see some players and managers speak up. I can't imagine a lot of of them will continue to be there if they are out of the domestic league. They are all competitors at the end of the day as much as they get **** on for having loads of money

It damages it massively as the top 4 battle is gone

This is the real issue if its allowed to go ahead. Top 4 is huge for the top teams in the PL. Its all most teams can aim for in the season and there are usually 6 teams or more competing for it. Imagine this season if there was no reward for top 4/5. You currently have 9 teams who could be playing in europe and its making things exciting.

I get that the current CL is old and it needs to evolve. But they've gone about it the wrong way.

Having a closed shop is wrong and disgusting. Some of those teams don't deserve to be in it, frankly. This is what gets my back up.

I'm hearing that some of the German teams are 51% fan owned, so if the fans says no, game over for them.

I think Red Bull will join as they circumvented the 51% by just making a new club and getting them up through the leagues.

Realistically both Dortmund and Bayern haven't joined in because of the fans but if they don't they will get shafted in the long run. Only reason PSG will not join is because their owners have got far too much invested in UEFA.

Premier League Rules contain a commitment amongst clubs to remain within the football pyramid and forbid any clubs from entering competitions beyond those listed in Rule L9, without Premier League Board permission.

Let's see what happens next....

What can the Premier League do if they breach it? sue them for a few million? what if the teams field under 10's for a season or two and get relegated to the Championship (Football League)?

Quoting the rules and enforcing them are two entirely different things, especially if enforcing them risks losing the majority of your income.

I mean I don't have the figures if these clubs to hand but I'm not sure many could handle the significant revenue drop straight after a pandemic.
Swiss ramble already ran some figures as to why the clubs are pushing ahead with this.

"Here's a clue as to why 12 clubs have signed up for a European Super League: They lost a combined £1.2 billion in 2019/20 before player sales And that was for a season where only the last 3 months were impacted by COVID..."

I may be wrong but I thought a huge proportion of those losses were a result of the tax actions against Madrid and Barca?

Edit: And regardless, what about the rest of the clubs in these leagues? Should their losses be ignored as they're not deemed to have "Super League" status? Despite a number of them finishing above teams who are entering the Super League?

Im talking about why would Burnley for eg vote to stop the big 6 playing int he premier league.

Ander Herrera looks like he's been the first big name player to speak up. Said he won't stand for this and that for him football is all about the small teams getting to compete with giants (there's a slight irony given who he plays for, but still).
