The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

had to flog my camera gear when covid hit..it was just a hobby but still...your pics made me want to clear dust off my old x100 :D and made me look on never versions on the auction site...

fuji has so many models now...am lost what to look for...

To break it down...current line up, it's basically 4 areas.

X-100 series (fixed lens).

X-T series miniature SLR with dials for the exposure triangle (X-T4 + X-T5 has IBIS, previously do not)
X-Txx - As above, but cheaper materials, internals are mostly the same

X-H series larger SLR style with PSAM system for exposure (buttons, not dials). All have IBIS

X-Pro series - Rangefinder style
X-E series - Like the X-Pro, minus the viewfinder.

There are others like the S10, but the bargain to be had for around £500...I would say a X-T3. X-100F if you can get it around £800. As good as the X-100v is, even a used one goes for RRP and there is a Fuji event next month which rumour a new one will be coming out as the v has been out for over 2 years.

£300 and boxed, all you need is a lens.

I am considering a new camera. My 5DIV is just too big and heavy for holidays that aren't geared around photography.

I bought a M43 camera like 7 years ago, a Panasonic GX80. But I've never liked the colours that the sensor captures and it always seemed like a total chore to get captures to look good.

Unsure what to do really. It's been a long while and I'm very out of touch. I have a few selection of micro four third lenses, but wouldn't mind selling them all up for a slightly bigger and better platform.

1 roll of film, 1 focal length, 3 shots a day, full manual, 10 days in Japan. Challenge accepted!

(Film has been in the freezer for 20 years. Camera never tested...no idea if it works)

Do you need a lead film bag through the airport?

Edit: atrocious spelling.

Well, I've sold my 5DMKIV and have abandoned going down the smaller camera route.

I have been contemplating going to Sony, but I like the Canon ergonomics, love the colours and have a large number of EF lenses. Starting again feels like the wrong choice for me. Especially that now the DR war has come to an end. There doesn't seem to be any issues with using the RF to EF adapter and I'm hoping, after some more time, Canon will see the light and allow 3rd parties to produce RF lenses.

With the R5MKii looking like it's delayed until next year. The R5 seems like the obvious choice, grey market has some very good savings over UK retail.

Check out Einfin, the Canon R5 body only is £2600, crazy price for such a great camera.

I’ve had one and it was such a joy to use, the only reason I went back to Sony was because I missed using Sony GM lenses and Tamron/Sigma.

It looks like Canon has no plans to open up the RF mount to 3rd party designers yet but hopefully by 2024 that’ll change.

The other benefit is the R5 is pretty much 99% a 5Dmkiv going by the body, feel etc so it’s like you never changed.

Not to turn this into a debate for a different thread, but I do agree Raymond. I can't really see myself going back any time soon. I'm getting simlar performance to my PC for a fraction of the size and heat output. The Macbook is slient, I only ever see the fans turn on after 5minutes into a 4K video encode.

It's possibly the best wallpaper ever, mrk :)

Not to really make this a apple vs windows debate but there are pc that are smaller than the mac you have and offer similar performances.

I got one but to use as a always on power server
