*** The new MacBook/MacBook Pro thread, all info in here ***

Mine arrived at around 10am but due to a sick girlfriend I have only just opened the box! As above i'm blown away. Seems like a big upgrade from my old MacBook. Some pics:

As you can see from the picture they seem to be slightly dusty! Hopefully that will blow out.

Just had a slight panic attack when a bright screen came on I thought I could spot about 10 dead pixels which luckily just turned out to be specs of dust which came off with a cloth!

Yeah, the thing needs some serious cleaning every 10 mins :) You get used to it !
 
Have any of you guys had any faults at all?

I have my 2nd macbook coming at the end of the week after phoning apple today, the new one ships within 24hrs which is good :)
 
I think i've just been very unlucky matey, i can find lots of people on forums with problems but you only hear of these cases as happy people wont post about being happy, thats the internet for you! :)
 
apple delivery system is a total joke.... surly they could sent 10 000 units to the UK and then shp them from there next day? but no.. everyone has to wait 2-3 weeks from china... which even scum bag ebay scammers will get your item from china within a few days.... no makee ne sence
 
I wish that apple would offer a paid shipping option. Free shipping gives them too much freedom to do what they like and ship it when and how they feel like it. I guess they have to make sure the moon is in the right phase or something before they are ready.
 
its the apple way or the high way.... in everything!!! including shipping..

to be fair though, I think there are a fan a manufacturing JIT ( just in time ) which basically means that they just keep up with demand and no more.
Which for the record is actually a great way to run your business/resources
HOWEVER it is a right royal PITA when your waiting for your new mac product.
 
Mines out for delivery today \o/

Only problem is i start work at 12pm and won't be back home till 9pm so I'm sitting by the window willing it to come before 12!

I also sold my White MacBook Sunday night for £545, Not bad as i was told it was only worth £400'ish in the wanted section.
 
Went into the Apple shop the other day and I must say, Im glad Ive kept my macbook pro and went for a mac pro instead of the new macbook pros. Dont really like the shape of them, the corners, and that screen is reflection heaven!

The new one are lovely looking things, the last gen now looks dated IMO

The glass trackpad is great to use.

I had an issue with mine where it wouldn't sleep or shutdown properly. One phoen call to Apple (answered with no queue I might add) and a quick repair from the OS X dvd and everything is working fine.

I bought a Macbook to replace my now aging Thinkpad T42 and the difference is just amazing. The new trackpad is quite simply awesome. I've never ben able to use trackpads before, always preferring the Trackpoint type things that Thinkpads have, but I'm now converted.

Also, I've not tried it outdoors yet but I'm really not finding any issues with the screen being too reflective.

God there's just so many good things to say about this laptop! :D

Yeah I did like the trackpad but Im not too keen on the black keyboard or the mirror like screen. I have a gloss screen but mine has never been as reflective as that. Each to their own though! As long as everyone ones happy with their purchase :)
