The new Orange Android phone (San Francisco) £99...but a Question??

got one rooted and unlocked, just waiting for the giffgaff sim to arrive and then i'll just use the orange sim for orange wednesdays.

Has anyone managed to scratch their screen yet? dno whether to bother with a case/screen protector.

Mine is fine so far, am paranoid though!

Not sure where to find a case/protector!

The Samsung i900 screen protector is meant to fit over the SF screen pretty well apparently. Pack of 6 on eBay for £1.69 odd.

EDIT: Bought some myself. Now I just have to buy the phone! :D

this is what someone from the HUKD thread posted

Samsung i900 is supposed to be a good fit. I've just ordered some from ebay item number 280398195254 (£1.65 for 6)

i900 Samsung fits brilliantly without any cutting for the screen protector. For a soft gel case the Nokia e71 is a great fit.

might give the screen protector a go

really intrested, i can change my o2 tarrif to inc 500mb data, will that be enough to check my emails and do maybe 5-10 mins of surfing (no videos) daily for a month?

I would suggest that unless all your e-mails have multiple MB attachments and you browse picture heavy porn sites for 5-10 minutes a day, 500MB will be more than ample.

Easily!

Have bought one, eBay number 280398195254, £1.65 with free postage.

I'll email them and see if they will refund me discount.

I've gotten an e-mail saying they need to double check some details with me and that I should contact their web sales support team. Is this normal?

Just ordered one over the phone for £78.99 including £10 top-up, so only £68.99 for the phone itself (ill give the top-up to my brother or mum, which I think you can transfer to another sim). Should be here on Wednesday.

Now I just need to get rid of my Nokia 6120c!

how did you get it so cheap? o:

Orange Loyalty discount. If you are an Orange customer you should be able to get some discount of some kind. Although, its been abused so much over the last week (like people just buying Orange Sim cards and using the number to say they have been with Orange), that they are clamping down on who gets the discount.

Luckily, my mum and brother have been on Orange for over 10 years, so they said it wasn't a problem. Probably down to who you get on the phone too, luckily I got a very loverly lady :D

Yes I heard that if you have a PAYG sim already you get a £30 discount, I have a few questions though.

What happens to the PAYG sim that is used to get the discount?

So if I got my mum's PAYG sim card and used that would that get me a £30 discount and nothing would happen to my mums sim card? (i.e. no transfer of number or something like that).

The person on the phone said that the new sim card comes in the box and needs to be activated. So i guess if you don't activate it then it won't do anything.

They didn't say anything about transferring numbers or anything like that. I'm pretty sure all they are doing is giving you a new phone.

I used my mum's number to get the discount. She talked to the person first (since she is the account holder they needed the details and what not) and then my mum gave me the phone and I just said that I read online about getting discount and that we've been Orange customers for 10+ years. She went away for a minute or two and came back and said that was fine!

So long as you've been with Orange for a decent amount of time, then it should be okay. Again, its probably down to who you get on the phone as well. Could be some grumpy person who just started their shift, or someone nice!

Damn I seriously want this phone now. Going from a tocco lite this will be a dream. Always wanted something Iphoneesque but couldn't justify the cost. Really annoyed I have to wait for my work to pay me my bonus on my spree card before I can order one. Hope stocks hold up and price doesn't change.

I get £12 cash back through a work thing and I'll try the 15 0's to get a bit more off.

Can't wait to get it and start customizing.

A grumpy person near the end of their shift and closing time is worse then a grumpy person at the beginning of their shift. Well I would be if you called me at work :D
