The new Orange Android phone (San Francisco) £99...but a Question??

Doe's this phone support arabic language and writing language?

If not out of the box is it possible to install arabic on it if i want?

I recently got a nokia and i thought u could change the language easyily or download a file but apparently all nokia phones are language locked to the coutnry you buy it which really annoyed me becaus i have to sell it now,i don't want to make the same mistake with this phone...

I managed to install mandarin keyboard with a app from the market , should think a similar one would be available for other languages as well

I don't think that's what im after,i want to be able to have arabic on the actual android OS itself so that everything uses arabic, unless the app makes it default everytime u boot up the phone?

Having to constatly open an app to get the language i want to use doesn't sound very good.

Hmm, just spoken to Orange retentions team, been offered Samsung Galaxy Apollo, 500MB usage and international calls to the Middle East 75p/min rather than 90p/min for £15 a month on yet another 24 month contract...
Currently using an HTC Touch HD (awful WinMo 6.2 handset) and paying upwards of £80 a month for £45 contract+£40~ for calls and texts to family in the Middle East. Sounds like a bad deal amirite?

I was planning on leaving Orange, getting a 30 day rolling contract with 3/T-Mobile/whatever and the San Francisco handset, then when I get bored of this one, just buy a new one sim-free

That's way too expensive,i not sure which country you are calling but get a Lebara sim card, most countrys cost 10p a minute with them including Egypt.it will save you a lot of money...Orange is to be honest the worst network in the UK in term's how value, they have the best network coverage in the uk but there stingy with network charges and internet allowance,i mean for £5 on the network 3 you can get 1gb for 30 days, orange is a ripp off...

The audio from the headset and from the speaker when in a phone call is shoddy. If your gunna use it as a phone or a music player don't.

I have a HTC Desire and a San Francisco and the speaker on the San Fran sounds much beter than the one on the Desire when playing music.

I'm seriously considering the SF phone but I'm torn whether to get the Samsung Genio Slide instead. Is the fact this is an Android just completely blow the Samsung out of the water? The Genio has some amazing reviews and is massively feature packed too.

I need to know this to i got a san francisco yesterday then unlocked it but now the back button is not very responsive:(

Pretty sure it doesn't invalidate any warranty. In the internal docs I have access to, the only PAYG unlock stipulation that you probably don't meet is:
the handset to be unlocked must have been registered to Orange PAYG for a minimum of 3 months
but this is for unlocking only, not for warranty (can't find anything on that side of it sorry). and you didn't use us to unlock anyway :P

I'm going to go with "95% likely you don't void the warranty, go visit the shop asap". All the back buttons are a bit finnicky from my experience of the san fran just for note - you have to press it a bit more to the middle than the icon for it to work 100% of the time.

as long as you bring it back with the orange sim in it they won't even think about checking to see if it is unlocked, unlocking the phone can't damage it in anyway so can't see it affecting warranty

Just tried to buy one of these for my dad by calling Orange.

The guy on the phone said that they've had loads of phone calls about the discount on the San Fransisco, and that it's really frustrating

He finally said I could have it for £84 if I paid for a £15 rolling contract by direct debit, so I said OK. (thinking I could cancel the direct debit after the first month and put my dads old orange sim card in the phone).

He then said he'd have to credit check me, which failed. Although I'm already on an Orange contract with my Desire :o

Just going to go into the shop and get 10% student discount instead

Just got mine earlier today called orange told them i'm an existing customer with a monthly contract which I am and said I hear there's a discount 5 mins later one SF on it's way to me for £79, can't beat that really for a deal on what by all accounts is a great budget phone.

Can no one tell me if the phone supports arabic?

Also any word on when the white version is available,it look's much better than the grey.

I'm completely unfamiliar with smartphones, Android and so and was wondering if someone could give me a pointer here. I know it's a rather subjective question depending on use but say I picked up one of thes phones on PAYG, would I get far for a tenner a month or if I browsed the web a bit would I start to see my credit dissapear rather quickly. (no videos, just the likes of a forum)

Also, as I'm on Orange PAYG, would they be able to transfer my existing number to my new phone? Any advice appreciated, thanks.
