The New Stargate Universe Thread

I think it's easily the best sg but we are in the minority.
People who like sg and have been big fans dont want a soap opera, people not into scfi will not what's sgu due to its name and similarity to st/sg format.
Where a few of us who like sic-fi but can't stand the format of st/sg actually seem to like it.

As I said if they removed it from the sg universe and made something very similar but in a new universe I think it would have made it and been very popular.

I love it, I cant sit through the other stargate series, but SG:U has been excellent from start to finish.

Yeah but if that was the case why even bother trying to set it on a ship. Might aswell have been a space colony and just have them doing the scripts along those lines.
They were trading off the Stargate name to get fans/popularity.

It does seem to be a real marmite series though - I watched the upcoming episodes and to my mind it hasn't got any better (not even Mckay saved it). My dad is an SG fan and he doesn't rate SGU either. My m8 he loves SGU and SG (not so much Atlantis). Horses for courses. Not good though if it's canned any future movies :(

They tried to do a drama in space ala BSG. Which they failed at miserably but im watching it coz i heart stargate.

There is no current star trek and now after this ends no stargate.

I am not happy.

I know, when this is finished Fringe will be practically the only Sci-fi series still going... and i missed out on most of the first two series so i found it pretty impossible to pick it up.

Where will we get our spacey goodness from now? :(

I'm seriously going to miss this show! I'll admit that it's not the best, but I still love it, especially some of the more recent episodes! Excluding fringe, there really isn't much to watch in the way of sci-fi, I guess I'll re-watch BSG or something :(

Will miss it as well. Was'nt so bad when SG1 finished as you could go straight to SGA but now we have nothing :(

Still angry they cancelled SGA if I'm honest, although it got proper cheesy towards the end of the last season :P

So no Star trek and no Stargate.... end of scifi

SGU was certainly different but just like all good shows that are finding its feet there kindly chopped.

I think Warehouse 13 is coming back soon.... and Sanctuarys still going well
I think those 2 shows will continue, they got low budgets and much cheaper cgi/effects, and while they dont have 20 eps at least there able to product quality episodes and less episode fillers....

Fringe I always hear some great stuff about it but I watched the 1st season and it sent me to sleep, I just felt it was cashing in on xfiles.... perhaps I need to give it another go:)

Chuck, The Cape are looking to be canceled also....

Chuck I think is likely to get a bit of a reprieve, probably like before pencilled in for 12-13 episodes and if it pans out a full series - they seem to have finally realised they can't recapture the magic of the first 1-2 seasons and trying something different tho.

Same here. I watched the first few episodes and I found it of no interest what so ever.

Fringe is good, but like other JJ Abrams shows, it does drag out a bit. The standalone episodes get a bit boring after a while. X Files crossed with Lost only works so far.

Sanctuary has a 4th season confirmed, although, its gone back down to 13 episodes, considering season 3 atm will run for 20 its a bit odd. SyFy are also moving the rest of season 3 of sanctuary to mondays, which is like the 'death slot' for sci fi. Although i hear they are doing the same for warehouse 13 and eureka. It seems they want to shove the sci fi shows aside so that the wrestling and stuff gets the premium timeslots on a friday.

I'm looking forward to Falling Skies when it starts, and Terra Nova when it starts in the fall.

V is ok, but whether that gets a third season who knows, same with chuck.

There are plenty of sci fi shows airing/coming soon, unfrotunately they just aren't set in space.

I'm interested to see what Brad Wright does now that Stargate has ended, think it was mentioned on gateworld that he's got a few tv pilots/ideas, so i hope whatever he comes up with it's sci fi, which would be the likely thing.

i read a comment earlier which about sums up modern scifi to a t
More and more contemporary sci-fi productions are moslty about characters' boring emotion stages. The "science" and "fiction" aspects are demoted to loosely side-straped plot devices, marginalized to support a story line devoid of inovative ideas.

when does Battlestar Galactica Blood & Chrome air/start, jesus you look on telly and there is no sci-fi left :(

Thats quite true we still got V, BSG:Blood and Chrome this fall, Terra nova and falling skies and sanctuary, warehouse 13 but as an above comments said some just arent set in space perhaps to save budget on cgi lol

Id like to perhaps retry fringe but after doing xfiles for like 10 years u dont fancy doing it again, if anything at least we got wonder woman starting.... perhaps trying to fill the void that is smallville.

Problem is now is SF is never going to get a prime time slot for people to see it, I dont see BBC 2 sticking another SF show in a 6pm slot when they can bore the living daylights out of us with Eggheads or whatever for £2.50 a show every night.
