The New Stargate Universe Thread

Unfortunately yes, the networks just want a quick return for their minimal bucks and SGU just wasn't able to deliver that.

Nice to see that the final episode did at least go out on a high :)

Look forward to re-watching it all once season 2 is out on bluray!

Am even tempted to grab the complete SGA on BD but it's pretty expensive so might wait a bit.

didnt threy remake it with the sg1 cast? :P

No, they revisited the original uprising on Earth against Ra in Mobius at the end of Season 8 but they didn't remake it.

I remember being blown away at the cinema by the film, but then I was only seven at the time :o

Anyone remember the fuss they made over the retractable headgear?

They are not releasing it on Blu-ray lol

Oh yeah I remember the first time I saw the film back in 1994 when Kurt Russell was Jack O'Neil and not that foolish MacGyver bloke!

I remember it well, I almost never watch the show because of how bad it was, luckily one action packed shoot out in the gate room and I was hooked :D

Oh look, Sanctuary, which was also moved to Mondays recently, has taken a massive ratings hit compared to it's usual Friday high. Does this mean that maybe it was the day, not the show, that caused the massive ratings drop for Universe.

Stupid bloody SyFy!

Someone posted an article a few pages back about SG:U being cancelled, it blamed the network and their horrendous programming. If sanctuary continues to plummet I hope they learn their lesson and switch it back ASAP.

Why can't someone like HBO make a good sci-fi program, at least that way it doesn't need 4 million + viewers per episode to stay alive!

That article written by Darren Sumner over at Gateworld has now been responded too - GateWorld throws down gauntlet, Syfy Channel responds

Be interesting to see how Sanctuary does in the remaining episodes on it's new night!

Was interesting to read about the 40 episodes of SGU originally being a contractual obligation for SyFy - interesting to think they might have wanted to can it after one season yet had to green light S02 even so.

The point about having to accept the fact that lower viewing figures are to be expected as a result of the move (for Sanctuary anyway) is very true - they can't possibly expect it to hold the same audience figures when up against the likes of Castle et al on Mondays!

I hope it is concluded someday, whether as a film or another season, because it deserves it.
Slow to get going in season 1, but in the end I think it turned out to be not bad at all. :)

(Being vague to avoid spoilers)

I can't see how there won't be any more Stargate, it's one of MGM's largest franchises, up there with Bond if I remember correctly. They need franchises like that to get back on their feet.

It needs a rest at the moment though, it's been on the air for fourteen years now at this stage, a break will do it good. Just so long as they don't decide to reboot SG-1 when it does go back into production.

Even if they did come back to it one day it's unlikely to get anything other than a written account in some form of what was meant to happen / planned to occur.

Still it is nice to think it will eventually (hopefully) get some kind of resolution to the ending!

It's a crying shame SG:U is over. I think it was really starting to find it's feet in Season 2 and with the various story arcs on the go I think Season 3 would've been superb even it was the shows last season.
I've never bought any Stargate boxsets before even though I've watched Stargate right from SG-1 through Atlantis and then on to Universe. I'll be picking up both Seasons of Universe on bluray as in my mind it's the best written and acted show out of the franchise.
