The New Stargate Universe Thread

Im watching cos i feel obliged too now, just because im checking its getting better. Water was to put it mildly, crap.

They need to jump into a star system where there is a war going on, low tech compared to The Destiny, but some Pew pew space action, like bi-planes vs F22s. ANYTHING to remind me that its a decent sci-fi show and not all like BSG when it was crud and all polotics and boring.

Screw it, add some Vorlons and have a Star destroyer board them so they can have a fight. Yeah no more running low on toilet roll episodes, nip through the stargate to 7/11 im bored now!

Sod that, just stick one sodding replicator onto the ship that's all I ask. Then there'll be enough action for an entire season!

Edit: Actually come to think of it, a toilet roll or lack of episode could be better.

I thought last nights episode seemed to improve the outlook on things, at last some plot and at last some depth.
Unfortunately Richard Dean Anderson has discovered Botox, and looks ridiculous now unless they use a long camera angle, it is most disconcerting.
The ships weapon system seems to drain their power reserves ridicuolous fast also, so should prove interesting if they actually have to shoot something.

i thought it was the same blubber we have seen since the first episode, maybe your getting used to the rubbish scripts so they nolonger seem as rubbish.

lets hope every episode left wont be "ship runs out of XXX , ship finds XXX" because thats basicly every episode so far

The problem I've had with most series that strand the characters in the middle of deep space is that there's not enough of this going on to start with. I mean your stranded in deep space the first thing you do is not figure out how to get back you first make sure you have the supplies & resources to survive long enough to figure out a way back hence I'm enjoying the series so far, but so far as I know the next episode will not revolve around them finding resources.

they have access to the people back home and they can't break the encryption stopping them exploring the ship? they have full access to atlantis and it doesn't have the codes in its database?

i like the show but the plot holes are huge.

I think you have to pretend that Rodney (and all the others who could help) don't exist ;)

I think they are playing up some kind of mystery arc. I mean the ship was supposed to have been empty since it was launched but the water was almost completely drained, the CO2 scrubbers were clogged and the power was almost drained.

They'll probably find out that they aren't the first on the Destiny and whoever was first locked out the main computer

Last nights episode was dull too much of an attempt to character build but in the most bizarre way. Shagging and going clubbing. Im starting to hate a few characters too.

Still watch it tho :O

It's definitely improving although am still waiting on a fully stand alone adventure episode not linked somehow to resources.

Hopefully the next episode will be something a little different - sounds good judging by its name anyway ;)

I really do hope chloe gets her head screwed on straight now and actually finds a reason to be there as otherwise she will be climbing the "to die next" list rather fast ...

Will be interested to see what Darren and Davids views are about the episode (Gateworld guys)!

I'm still really unimpressed by the show, I don't even know anyones name other than Eli. I'm really fed up of the guy from earth who keeps popping up to ruin everything, I wish they'd find a way to kill him off already. He's not an entertaining bad guy, he's a "lets change the channel now" bad guy :(.

EDIT: I get the feeling that if they'll find a way to get people on/off the ship in the final episode of the season, then any subsequent seasons will be people who want to be there. I wouldn't be surprised if Chloe and a couple of others decided that they wanted to be part of it so there are some civilians involved.

I'm still reasonably enjoying it. The problem is it's fairly slow paced. we need several episodes a week, as it's Dragging out to much.

And for the Love of all that is Holy start fixing the bloody ship.

i thought the bugs used all the water...
C02 scrubbers were clogged because well its stargate and magical fairy dust and crap blocked them up.

power was almost drained because they tried to dial earth in the first ep?
and the ships suposed to have recharged so many times that like a battery it doesnt hold much of a charge anymore.

I was so close to turning off this week. I have been an avid watcher of Stargate since it's premiere, even through the dull bits of Atlantis I lapped it all up and will rewatch the entire lot of it on DVD but this show is terrible in comparison. (even Enterprise wasn't so bad as to turn me off a francise I love watching)

I think I'll stick with it until the mid-season break, after that I doubt I'll watch anymore unless there is a massive turn-around. This recent episode felt like something from the oc with all the bloody stupid soppy bits. I would have much preferred if it had focused more on the rescue attempt of the Destiny than delve into Young's affair and marital difficulties. Also, why do I care if Colonel Telford called over to Young's wife's house at the end, it was like an ending off Eastenders which is immediately followed by the dramatic music.

Bring back Atlantis.

The latest eps was the key decision maker for me and it actually amused me to an extent - enough to make me check out the next episode.

Why did Destiny drop out of FTL to allow Telford & co to fire the weapons? Shouldn't it only drop out when they need to get something? Well what did they forget to get?

Hating Chloe more and more - it's somehow ok for her to hook up with a bit of rough soldier but not ok for her bf back home to hook up with someone he cares for
