The New Stargate Universe Thread

There's constantly rumours that Roland Emmerich will make another but hopefully it won't come to pass. I think the original is brilliant but I feel it would be a bit of a throwback now to go back to that storyline.

With regards to the tv films it doesn't look like they're going to happen either. I remember when Atlantis was canceled one of the conciliatory offers made by the studio was that Stargate: Extinction was going to provide a fitting end to Atlantis.

MGM is in a heap of trouble money wise at the moment though I believe so all of the tv show movies are on hold indefinitely which is a shame.

Would be a bit silly for Emmerich to ignore the series and do another movie.

As for the tv films, the production staff are all very much set on doing the films, they're just still waiting to hear stuff from the studio. I would never say never, the fact that MGM is in allot of trouble with debt as has been mentioned has kind of put a very large spanner in the works.

If you can get past the constant obsession with dog and food pictures then JM's blog is pretty good for insight into SGU and any happenings on the SG1 and SGA movies (You can be sure that if there is any news on the latter it will be there pretty sharpish).

:p

I remember coming across his blog about a year ago after visiting the gateworld forums, first thought i had was wtf is with all the plates of food? i find it kind of gross when ever i see photos like that, i mean who honestly wants to see what people are eating, something about it seems so tacky and wrong but anyway it was cool to see some of his on set photos when i managed to find them.

The man does like to go out to eat by the looks of it lol.

Tis a good read if you like to look at the production stuff i admit, ive been keeping tab on it for the past few weeks because of the pre production stuff from SGU/Atlantis on the blog, interesting to see how they go about making the stuff.

So series 2 ...

That felt like it was edited really poorly and flipped from scene to scene really too rapidly, with little or no explanation for some things.

At least they finally added some kind of new plot device, gay aliens in rubber shortie wetsuits.

Its still feels like a series that hasn't reached anywhere near its potential, but after a whole series of meh ... this fitted right back into the mediocre slot.

The last couple epps have really pushed this feeling of divide in the show, so much so that watching is a really unnerving experience. The feeling that they can all die either from aliens or each other is so far away from the safe warm fuzzy feeling of 'SG1 against the universe'.
Half of me likes the different feel of the program but the other wants them all to just kiss and make up and start finding stuff out about the ship and where it's been tbh.

Well that was mind numbingly boring :(

Guess I shouldn't really have expected much else but the buzz surrounding this new show was such that my expectations were raised far above the mediocrity this show has been delivering at best.

Also, what was with the communications stones randomly hijacking some underling on the alien ship, maybe if they had established that the aliens had developed a way to hack the comms signal from the stones this would have worked better but just randomly latching onto some alien was a stupid plot contrivance at best.

Finally, they played music at the end again obviously trying hard to get in with the other hip tv shows as this seems to be all the rage. I wouldn't mind if it was some of that pretty cool sounding ambient music the show generally has but songs just seem out of place and certainly don't add the gravitas to the situation they're probably meant to.

Theres a pretty simple and logical explanation for it, cant say anything more due to the rules on spoilers.

Hasn't it aired now?
According to first post, sky1 tv listings, it has.

So the stones thing explained, I thought it was pretty simple that the "things" in question posessed some sort of telepathy, naturally or technologically.

Except for the fact that when the alien died Young couldn't re-establish a connection with the alien ship nor could he connect to Earth. Fair enough though if it is explained at a later date.

Space was much better it's true - still can't believe chloe stared up into that whole they cut to get in ... How stupid do you have to be!
Some interesting theories regarding the ease with which they escaped ... Rush as always knows more than he's letting us believe.
