**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

The 352.86 drivers are terribly unstable on the desktop. I've been getting regular messages informing me that the driver has stopped responding.

Me too. I have been messing about with power settings, tdr in registry etc but it seems like its just down to the Nvidia drivers. I have tried running games or Heaven benchmark and no problems but can be browsing chrome and suddenly I get a quick black screen and then the pop up message little triangle that driver stopped and has recovered.

I have uninstalled the 352.86 drivers in safe mode and rolled back to the previous ones and so far its been stable but it wasn't occurring that quickly before so I wont be happy until I get a few days of stability. Probably have to leave it until Nvidia get a new driver out and just skip 352.86 altogether.

So have I been ignored or has nobody been bothered to try the 353.00's ?

I might give 'em a go :)

Just turned on my pc and got a display driver stopped responding within a minute! Happens 2 or 3 times a day since I installed the lastes drivers, always just on the desktop, never in games. Very weird and never had issues like it before. Bad bad drivers.

I have to use these latest drivers as I need SLI 780Ti performance for thr Witcher 3. Tried older drivers and tinkering with importing SLI profiles, but just no good for the Witcher 3 sadly.

Do you have your cards oc'd?

As far as I understand the 353 drivers dont actually do anything the WHQL's dont other than enable overclocking on notebooks.

They are notebook drivers, no idea why people are testing them on desktops.

As for these Witcher 3 drivers, they were useless for me even when reducing my overclocks. Multiple CTD's in BF3/4. Stuttering and lower SLI utilization in pcars. Gone back to the GTAV drivers and not had a crash since.

Do you have your cards oc'd?

Nope. Seems to only happen when on the desktop when the cards are totally idle too.

This is the first driver set in literally years I've had issues with. Just look at the feedback around the web though. Shedloads of people reporting problems, particularly the "driver stopped responding" message that I'm getting.

Same here. Fine during games but when at the desktop I get about 2-3 crashes an hour. Sometimes it completely locks my pc up.

^^^ apart from the driver not responding at desktop I was having a big issue when wakening the PC up from sleep. It would often have just a black screen with a moving white cursor. It would need a reboot to sort it out.

The 350's are fine

Because they are officially supported on all cards

But hey you go and try those latest drivers released for desktops and see that works out for you ;)

Nvidia do however say on the dl page that there are no improvements/changes for the desktop - so fail to see how these can help?

Neil79 - Do these 353.00's need a modded inf to make them install?

No as I said they have full desktop support :)

True, but these don't give me black screens in Witcher 3 which ONLY the previous official did. Maybe those dodgy optimizations weren't in these ones, no idea.

If these drivers suck, just go back to your previous ones

So I just tried the 353.00 drivers. Thought all was well, no probs on desktop, fired up Witcher 3, all ran good and no crashes for 30 the minutes I tested (though previous ones were fine in games too).

Exit the game, back to desktop launched chrome, browsing and about a minute later............ screen dips to black for a second and I get the driver has stopped responding message

Have to do system reboot as if launch Witcher 3 after this, the fps are locked at 20.

Have now tried these mobile ones, the quadro ones with a modded inf and the official ones, and all are total arse turds and do exactly the same thing.
I give up.
