**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

I'm getting screen tearing while just scrolling through my Steam Library and on YouTube videos, Driver issue or just a side effect of 4K ?

Getting a similar problem in some games, even with gsync, tearing skipping and stuttering around like its 20fps when it's actually 100+, alt tab out and back in usually helps.

Drivers are a ******* state just now, nvidia churn out 2 drivers a month jam packed full of bugs and amd just don't release any.

Quick question, getting my 980 Ti delivered later today and for the past week and half have been using the onboard Intel 4600 graphics of the i7-4770K. Usually I dont install the Intel driver software because never really use the onboard apart from this time waiting for the new graphics card so I had to install the driver software.

So my question is, do I need to uninstall the Intel graphics drivers first before switching the pc off, putting the new graphics card in and then install the Nvidia drivers?

Answered my own question, basically plugged the new graphics card in and the Intel configuration shortcuts dont appear on the desktop right click menu, so installed the Nvidia drivers and all seems good. I assume the Nvidia ones take over from the Intel ones and if I remove the graphics card the Intel one becomes the primary one again.

So from what I can tell, having the Intel and Nvidia drivers installed together doesnt seem to pose any problem but if anyone thinks otherwise and best to uninstall the Intel ones then I will do that, otherwise all seems good :)

I still have mine installed, however I do have integrated graphics disabled in my Bios.

I don't think it really makes any difference TBH

Yeah I was worried mostly about conflicting drivers but it seems ok. I know laptops use optimus where you have the discrete and dedicated gpu, i know for desktops it's not the same but I guess it should be ok having both installed.

And here i thought i was the only one with skipping/stuttering issues..problem is i cant revert to an older driver as there are none for the 980ti.. getting a bit p*ssed

I am not sure myself so I usually remove the Intel drivers and deactivate the onboard graphics in the bios to be on the safe side. Mind you kind of a hassle when you do have to take the PCI graphics cards out but then I have an SLi setup so the odds of both failing at the same time are pretty low I reckon.

Still if its working for you then obviously I am being over cautious.

The onboard GPU will be disabled as soon as you put the PCI-e one in. The drivers won't even be loading.

Are you using windowed gsync?

I really don't get it - using 353.xx here and aside from the windowed gsync bug which is easy to work around they are so far solid for me, if not the best driver in a long time - machines I've tested/using it on:

GTX780, Windows 7
GTX470, Windows 7
GTX675m, Windows 7
GTX970, Windows 8

I even "borrowed" a system to test Windows 8 (which I only have on tablets) and loaded it up with AB, Chrome (which I don't normally use), etc. and so far unable to make it crash - the only thing I've not tried as I don't have it is playing Witcher 3 - its fine playing GTA V, etc.

EDIT: Obviously there is an issue I'm not saying people are making it up or the drivers are flawless or something.

I've done a fresh install on the PC in my sig, and every time I install the NVIDIA driver, Windows decides it can't be bothered to run properly.

I've installed the latest driver 353.06 twice and the driver that was recommended through Windows update, and each time I get as far as the desktop Windows wallpaper but no icons, start bar or task bar. Ctrl-alt-del just brings up a black screen and I have to go into safe mode and uninstall all NVIDIA stuff for Windows to load properly.

I used driver sweeper to remove everything so I have no idea what is going on.

Is this a hardware issue or just really dodgy drivers? I'll try an older driver set but I'm pretty sure it'll be the same.
