I wholeheartedly agree. I would also like it that Game Devs (or any other programming Devs for that matter) just wrote their games to use all the features of a graphics card regardless of who it was manufactured by. Using the power of AMD and Nvidia kit to the best of both of their abilities. At least then there would be less to argue over.......Hmmmm okay maybe not less, just different things to argue over.![]()
Problem is you have to maintain more than one rendering pipeline that way diverting huge amounts of resources away from working on the game itself. Also to be quite frank AMD's documentation on vendor specific features tends to generally suck and much more often produce unexpected results and on the other hand optimisations for nVidia specific hardware tends to penalise performance on any other platform requiring a significant amount of additional code to support other vendors without massive slow down.
