**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

Been angry at nvidia for some time now because gsync keeps breaking or only semi work but its starting to dawn on me that it might just be windows 10 updates that keeps being a problem. My win7 install had no issue and my fresh install of win10 didnt either unless today after a few updates.. now BF1 is stuttering again and gsync is broken not working fully.. getting SOOOO tired of win10 issues.

Make sure games aren't running borderless instead of full screen.

Not sure where to post this. BF1 thread, 1080 thread or here.

On some maps not all I am getting really bad micro stutter. It feels like my fps tanks and I am walking through treacle.

I have Gsync on, Vsync in NCP. Vsync off in game and it was capped to 144fps. Capping it to 120fps seems to make things better....

Is this normal?

---

I've only played this and Prey and this is the only game I see this issue.

One thing I did do today tho was update the PC to the Creators update.

I have the same issue if I run in-game vsync without a limiter. If I use in-game vsync and set the FPS limiter to "desktop refresh rate" then it's better. I've also found that running hwinfo64 in the background monitoring things causes stutter in multiplayer. This is significantly reduced if I do not run it. I have a dell s2716dg gsync and a gtx 1080.

We have the same monitor and GPU. So there is a trend here.

Q. Why would you use in game vsync with a gsync monitor?

I capped it to 120fps but I'll try 'monitor refresh rate'

Try frame rate capping to 135 or 140-143 or so hitting 144 fps with G-Sync on and V-Sync off also FastSync on can result in stutter in some cases.

Some framerate limiters can also cause stutter depending on the method they use to inhibit framerate.

The slow down feels like the gpu slowing down for some reason.

From my experience in-game Vsync works just fine in many games with Gsync, it depends on the game: some prefer Nvidia control panel Vsync as their in-game Vsync may do something non standard, potentially breaking Gsync. Others (a very small minority) may prefer in-game Vsync and don't like forced Vsync.

In this case, I'd try setting Vsync to "application controlled" in the Nvidia CP Bf1 profile only and then enabling Vsync in game just to see whether it improves things, as well as the frame limit to "monitor refresh rate" of course.

I definitely noticed the "wading through treacle" feeling at random points when I wasn't using these settings. PCs are strange.

I do believe this might just be my issue. There is a big issue at the moment with Nvidia drivers and the CU for Windows 10. I've seen a lot on it on the web.

Supposedly MS have changed something and they are working with Nvidia to solve it. :(

Internet seems to suggest using drivers pre 378.

I've tried all the previous suggestion with no success.

The Creators update has certainly made a number of games worse for me too including breaking Gsync. Disabling game mode, the game bar and game DVR helped though. It's strange as this update was supposed to improve performance not make it worse.

One issue I've found lately, especially with Windows 10 some components of the Intel networking and rapid storage drivers can cause massive spiking to DPC latency - rolling back to older versions clears it right up but Windows 10 will keep trying to push the problem driver on you :s

I am still using 382.53 as any other driver after that freezes Gears of war 4. This happens on two different pc's.

Wish Nvidia would acknowledge this. Hadn't had any driver issues within the last three years on the other team.
