**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

New drivers out.

Some nice features in this one.

New Features
  • Added support for OpenGL 4.6
  • Added NVIDIA GameStream support for HDR under Windows 10
See "Open Issues" for a description of bug 200349552 that affects this feature.
  • Added Fast Sync support for SLI
Fast Sync under SLI is available only on the following 'bridged' SLI configurations:
NVIDIA Maxwell GPUs: Any resolution less than 4k
NVIDIA Pascal & later GPUs: Any resolution
  • Implemented improvement in full-screen Vulkan applications for 32-bit Windows swapchains.
This optimization will cause more events that trigger an out-of-date swapchain, such as when entering or leaving full-screen mode (typically by pressing Alt+tab). Applications that do not properly respond to the VK_ERROR_OUT_OF_DATE_KHR return code may not function properly when these events occur. See the WSI Swapchain section of the Vulkan specification.
  • Added support for the DirectX Intermediate Language (DXIL)
Includes full support for DirectX 12 Shader Model 6.0, features such as Wavemath, and the DirectX Shader Compiler.
Supported only on NVIDIA Kepler and later GPUs.
Application SLI Profiles
Added or updated the following SLI profiles:
  • Earthfall

3D Vision Profiles
Added or updated the following 3D Vision profiles:
  • Middle-Earth: Shadow of War - Not recommended
3D Compatibility Mode Profiles 2DD
These games must be run in DirectX 10/11 mode to see improvements and are not compatible with 3D Vision Surround mode. Added or updated the following compatibility mode profiles:
  • Nex Machina - Excellent
  • Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice - Excellent
  • ARK: Survival Evolved - Excellent

Depends still some games where it causes noticeable stutter and it is most useful when you can render above your monitor's refresh rate - in some cases it works very well but its still not a blanket turn on and forget feature.

For those with 75-100Hz displays and a decent GPU it generally works pretty well for other setups more hit and miss.

Anyone having issues getting Gsync to work with Doom either Vulkan or OGL? Got G-sync indicator on and it displays its on in other games but Doom is a no go. It's annoying because i can see tearing at high FPS and even turning vsync on ingame doesn't do anything to prevent it. All tho Vulkan seemed to fix tearing but capped at 60FPS and no gsync.

Tried v-sync on and off in control panel and its turn on in there too. Tried full screen and full screen + window mode. Ingame is fullscreen too. Tried everything so putting it down to the game/driver just wondering if anyone is in the same boat?

Big issues for me with the latest 387.92 WHQL Win 7 64 bit on KFA2 GTX 1080 HOF. I get the black screen no video display error so had to remove 387.92. First time I have had any display issue in over a year so avoiding for now!

Any idea how to fix this?

Not my video. Noticed after switching over to Nvidia.I only get it when it changes to the hand, except only in two places. Steam internet browser and going from taskbar to something that switches to the hand. Only really happens if it's done fast though, move the cursor slowly and it doesn't do it. I tried updating drivers (except to the very latest, not tried those yet). Only seems to be those two places, firefox for example never does it.

Not a big deal, just a little annoying as it wasn't there before switching to Nvidia.

Thanks.

I have Win 10 as well (multiboot OSes) same issue but games are better on Win 7 so I tend to game on that!

I dunno if it is the difference but I've been playing The Division recently - on my i7 4820K and Windows 7 it plays smooth as anything - while a couple of people I know have been moaning for awhile about the stutter in the game since the CU update while using similar setups - 4xxx series i7s and GTX1070 or 1080 GPUs.

Those on Overclock.net showed Windows 7 having lower DPC.

I can't fully install the latest 387.92 drivers for some reason

It reports "NVIDIA Installer failed". Seems everything, including the actual driver installed fine, but NVIDIA Container 1.6 is what failed.

As I've mentioned before - some recent Intel RST and network software/drivers seems to have a poor effect on DPC - especially can be an issue on Windows 10 as if you pull those driver versions off it often tries to put them back over - even if you disable that particular update a few weeks later they seem to get applied again.

Apparently to solve the stutter on Win 10 CU you need to disable the game DVR built in recorder that appears to be the issue. But I still prefer Win 7. 10 is just bloatware & MS trying to force their crappy Store down everyone's throat until they choke on it and cave & buy content

I've been getting more & more tempted to go back to W7 recently, feel like such an old tart whinging about it but I genuinely despise W10 - the CU was just the icing on the cake for me really.
