**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

Is there any way a driver update could cause my gpu to start emitting hideous coil whine? I know it's probably just coincidence but my <1 month old gigabyte 2070 super was stotally silent until right after the new driver install and now it sounds like someone choking on a kazoo at anything over 60fps. Tried going back to older driver, made absolutely sure it's not a fan etc. Any possibility the driver changed a power management setting or something? Pretty gutted after just going to a lot of effort and expense to build a nice silent rig to sit on my desk.
Anyone shed some light on this? I know there's probably nothing I can do but it's bugging me that I might have missed something obvious.

Seriously, why do people keep saying the 90s? Are you aware of what 90s UIs looked like. They're all pixelated 16bit. NASTY. NVIDIA's is from the XP era.
The Windows 98 Nvidia control panel doesn't look so bad IMO. Nice and simple.

The current one "only" dates back to 2006 though. It was first introduced with ForceWare Release 90 that year. Most of it remains to this day.

It could have been changed to the normal Windows 10 interface instead, if it has absolutely no willingness and imagination, and vision how a Graphics UI should look like.

Windows 10 graphically looks pretty poor - a lot of stuff still looks like it was ripped out of Windows 3.1 and slapped into the OS.

does that mean no more slim drivers?

Dunno, deleted due to not being sure, wether it just meant unsigned drivers coming through the wu or not.

If its all unsigned, then we'll just have to put up with our broken Nvidia drivers, as we wont be able to use the so called 'hotfixes' anymore :p

Id think it would just be the ones that come through the wu tbh.

Because Nvidia don't allow their AIB partners to get away with haphazardly screwing junk coolers to their GPU's. i have been getting increasingly annoyed with trying to keep the ASRock Challenger D 5700XT temperatures under control and finally blew my top, seeing red went straight to Amazon and bagged a 2070 Super from MSI, i had one of their GTX 1070 and it was brilliant, so here we are.... https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/msi-rtx-2070-super-gaming-x.b7142

On another note Nvidia's UI is decidedly dated and horrid, the user experience in the software matters Nvidia, just saying.

AMD, sort your ######### AIB partners out with this crap ####### coolers!

Sorry humbug, but it's clear you didn't run an Inno3d 1080ti X2, the thing would throttle all the time even after a repaste job, or how about the MSI armor Cooler being used on a 1080ti... like WTF!!! that thing was about enough for a 1070/1080... I know cause I had one... I don't mind Junk coolers if it means the card is cheaper than what else is offered, cause that fits perfectly with users like myself who has a universal 3rd party cooler that would fit on most things... like the Morpheus or the MK-26. I guess the same thing applies as always, research :)

I tried launching my Geforce Experience this eve and it updated itself, and then I noticed the FPS counter in game was looking bigger? Can anyone confirm or am I tripping?

I game in 4K on a 43 inch display and the fps counter was always small for me. Now it looks like i am running at 1080p as the fps counter is like 3x bigger now so you are not tripping. I did a full driver uninstall and it is still like that. Looks awful now.

Not sure if driver issue, but if I enable Ycrcb 4:4:4 and use anything other than 8bit, the screen goes blank and won't respond, I have to go into safe mode and uninstall display drivers and reinstall.

Usually if I set an incompatible setting, the screen would go blank for a small amount of time and restore.
