**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

I don't believe I've used the studio drivers before. Although I seldom seem to have much in the way of issues with the game ready drivers,
I rarely play games on release day as I'd rather wait for sale prices, so I guess I should consider using the studio driver instead.

Downloading now. :)

Hotfix driver 531.26 is now out to address the container issue.

This hotfix addresses the following issues:
  • Higher CPU usage from NVIDIA Container might be observed after exiting a game [4007208]
  • [Notebook] Random bugcheck may be observed on certain laptops with GeForce GTX 10/MX250/350 series GPUs [4008527]
No mention of fixing the BSOD issue that was introduced with the last driver though.

I had this exact behaviour when my 3rd party 12VHPWR cable was faulty, Not melty just faulty like a lose cable that would make the card lose power so I'd get a black screen followed by fans at 100%. Went back to the stock Nvidia octopus and that sorted it.
Interesting. It's a cablemod one in using. I have a corsair one unused I might try if it happens after driver 're install so thanks.

I've temporarily gone back to the 528.49's - had a very uncharacteristic bluescreen and a complete system lockup on the latest drivers - not that it means it *is* the drivers but they're the only software component that's changed recently.

I used to be paranoid but gave up. /adjusts tinfoil hat

(Resource Monitor/network tab shows the evil on windows, I used to use a desktop firewall with a blocklist)

I just use NVCleanstall, quick, easy, and you get to choose what's onstalled.

I had this issue as well and even rma a gpu over it but in the end it was the cablemods cable ... it is a known issue and has a big thread on reddit about it  Apparently the sense wires easily got damaged on the early versions , any way rma the cable which involved cutting it in half and they have sent me a new one .. the plug has been redesigned and is a much better fit and the sense wires do look better. Not fitted yet as waiting for the new 90 deg adapter to arrive .

I get the same problem with my 4090 periodically but using AIB, same display. Sometimes it happens after installing the driver and I change from 8 bit to 10 bit as well. Restart fixes it but annoying nonetheless.
running with a memory oc ? these cards are very fussy with being set high and just sitting at desktop doing noting  have you got a cablemods cable ?

No cable mod mate, just the cable Seasonic sent me which is a quality bit of kit and happened on the default cable also. Tbh it happens to me after a driver installation so the GPU is always stock anyway at that point.

Happen on multiple gpu ( I know you had a few  ) or just this one ? I'm currently on the default nvidia cable and that has stopped all the black screen/ 100% fan issue that was going on ... now the only time it will crash at desktop is if I leave the memory at +1650 it will randomly black screen requiring a restart.. set memory to +1200 at desktop/ you tube and it is rock solid no crashing at all for me ... in games I can daily +1600 but just doesn't like sitting there doing nothing at that clock when at desktop , probably due to the memory cooling off and we know it doesn't like the cold

I think it was all of them (4090's) tbh. Doesn't happen every time, it's a lottery Restart fixes it so no the end of the world.
