**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

So um. Never had a problem with my 680 sli. never recall a single driver stopped responding in the 3 years I've had them.

put this 980 ti in and I've crashed (and recovered) while in Chrome. Then crashed in Project Cars just as my kids was playing...he got really upset (only 3 lol).

So I rebooted and stopped using Chrome for the time being.

I wonder if the PCars crash was related (due) to the previous crash and recover?

How disappointing...I do hope this is not the gfx card and only the drivers.

I have done a full uninstall and reinstall when I put the card in, as the driver I had was from beginning on May and didn't support the 980tis. That was durikng installation, not after the crashes.

I do hope NVidia isn't turning in to AMD!

Bit unfair to AMD as they are the opposite tbf, you don't get drivers as often but they don't tend to bring system crippling bugs. With Nvidia you get rapid driver updates but problems with latest few.

350.12 was solid for me beyond that and they all had issues. Can report that Fury X with amd-catalyst-15.15.1004 is rock solid.

Both camps get issues now and again. Nvidia will no doubt fix this soon. Then people will no doubt forget all about this and say AMD have driver issues again lol.

Crashes here in chrome and witcher 3 when loading built up areas and no chrome running. Hot fix my a***

350.12 works well with Witcher 3 + Titan X and is rock solid.

your right. it was harsh. just like stuff for £600 to work. when I dropped £800 on 680 sli and never had a problem. genuinely, its a bit dissappoting. Although I never play that many games.

I do hope it isn't the card. I guess the card being bad would be artifacting etc?

Yeah I know what you mean. Your card is no doubt fine. 350.12 was a really solid driver, didn't have a single problem with Titan X / X99. Above that gave me weird issues with browsing, like locking and freezing, and Witcher 3 would just go back to desktop, like it would close itself. It's the drivers. Like there is some kind of conflict with certain progs.

I would stick with 350.12 and just enjoy gaming for now. Nvidia will sort this.

What are your frame rates like in The Witcher 3 with the 350.12 compared to the 353.38?

Couldn't tell you frame rates but it was nice and smooth everything turned up to max at 1080P with single Titan X.

If you are at a higher res maybe just turn hairworks off and keep everything else at max. Except sharpness because high looks horrible lol.

Thats the thing, it seems maxwell isnt doing so well right now on the driver side. My 780 was stable and i never had driver issues with it. Now on my 980ti its a completely different story. Never had so many issues in such a small timeframe.

Agreed, drivers have been borked for a long while now on Maxwell.

Seems to be ever since they tried to un gimp Kepler, it triggered borking on the Maxwell side.

I'm trying the NDA drivers now, using W8.1 things seem ok so far (Don't want to jinx it) lol. Let's see how these do..

So far the NDA drivers have been good on Windows 7, both Nvidia's latest Windows 10 drivers have serious issues, mouse cursor problems. graphics corruption at desktop etc.

For Windows 7 though 353.51 seems spot on.

And it sucks :( It was the first driver they gave me grey screens of death!

Oh really, that's bad. Works fine (So far) here with 960 on Windows 7. What is going on with Nvidia drivers lately. The last stable driver that worked across the board was 350.12.

The latest W10 drivers are actually the worst I've ever used lol. Mouse cursor problems, graphics corruption on desktop along side screen shift. Nvidia need to get on it.

353.62 fixes graphics corruption in Windows 10, but you can't exactly easily install the driver atm. Current method needs test mode to be enabled and a hacked driver. I am amazed how bad Nvidia's driver situation is right now tbh. What is going on lol. You can't even revert to an older driver in Windows 10 because 10 update will force the broken Nvidia drivers on you if you uninstall them..

I've got literally 70+ of crash free gaming on the Witcher 3 with Titan X and over about 5 different driver releases in Windows 10

I'd say its an underlying problem with your system or perhaps too much GPU overlooking (Witcher 3 is apparently more sensitive to this than most games)

Those reporting game crashes get crashes with system at stock. Obviously people try lowering clocks and stock speeds to determine what is causing the crashes. It's established at this point that Nvidia drivers are causing drivers crashes on systems at stock. This is def a driver problem for people not pebkac.

My problem is Windows 10 drivers, graphics corruption. Screen shift, mouse cursor distorted. Basically the worst problems with drivers I've experienced in all the years I've been using PC's. Never really had any major problems with either AMD or Nvidia drivers until the 353 drivers crawled out of hell and onto my PC :p

With the older 353 driver I got many crashes with games and browser especially Witcher 3 but the later hotfix fixed that for me on Windows 7.

These Windows 10 problems are a whole different ball game :D. Problems just at desktop lol. Never had driver this bad before. Fun times lol.

Hopefully by the 29th Nvidia will have a working Nvidia driver to save a bit of face for the Windows 10 launch.

Shouldn't GPU-Z say DX12 not DX11.2 under Windows 10 ?

No idea mate, just noticed I've lost CUDA as well. Awesome stuff Nvidia lol.

With all recent hassle with PC, faulty hardware. Drivers not working. Games broken at launch, rising cost. Fanboys, errrrrgh..

I do genuinely consider ditching PC for gaming at times (Like today), and just using console. In the times I do get to play a game, it would be great to spend that time playing the game and not trouble shooting, i.e editing files just to make the game playable, finding obscure drivers to make sure game doesn't crash. Having to upgrade to get more FPS :D

I like PC gaming, but I do honestly wonder is it worth it anymore, am I enjoying it? Not to mention the unhealthy upgrade addition that comes with PC gaming for me lol.

I found myself look at 4K monitors and then contemplating GPU horse power... This has to stop haha :p

Christ, I can only the imagine the hassle of getting games to play nice at 4K..

These latest drivers are great on Windows 10.

Looks like my return to a decent PC might be sooner than expected. A few days with just this mini PC and yeah, I think I'll be back with something better very soon lol. I think this will go back in the lounge and I'll build something small but mighty..
