**The OcUK Benchmarks thread!**

Looking forward to next gen.

If nVidia go 256 bit bus again (even with 4GB as standard) I will look to AMD for driving my 3 screens and take the hit on losing 3D :(.

Need more GPU grunt!!

I seriously cant see Nvidia going 256-bit for top end again. All the evidence weve seen so far suggests that if the 680 had a 384-bit bus and 3GB, it would perform notably better than the 7970's, probably even at high resolution.

Cool. So you have the bezels in the middle? If so, that must be hard to play.

Yea but i didnt buy 2 for gaming.. i do video editing so its handy to have more real estate. Might buy a third monitor but these are not the best in the first place (model in my sig) and i feel it'll be a waste of cash to buy a third now when beter monitors are on the horizon. Still decent Samsungs although i dont have room for a third on this desk :p

Pic below :)

I'll update results either tonight or tomorrow depending when I finish work.

I know cleee is busy at the moment but I'll ask if he can do some tri screen dual 7970 runs.

Ok heres some 3840x1028 fun on BF3. For some reason it wouldnt let me alt+enter into full screen so i had to maximize the window and got to said resolution.

Sapphire 7950 Dual-X @ 1125/1625 (Catalyst 12.11 Beta)
Intel i7 2700K @ 4.5GHz
Corsair Vengeance RAM 1600 CL8 (8-8-8-24)

BF3 Caspian Border 64 player multiplayer server

Max settings @ 2xMSAA (30 minute run)

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
106873, 1928212, 35, 118, 55.426

Max settings @ 4xMSAA (15 minute run)

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
44029, 899701, 28, 80, 48.937

Additional info..

Max GPU temp after this was 67c (VRM1=75c - VRM2=63c)
Max CPU temp was 61c
Max VRAM usage was 1968MB

I only ran these benches just to give an idea of how perf is at this resolution on these new 12.11 Beta drivers and i dont expect these results to be put onto the list.. its up to u @pgi :)

So i wont be doing this again.. worst bloody 45 mins playing a game with crosshair between 2 monitors.. hated it! :p

I clearly stated it was a joke, don't whinge about soiling the thread while editing out the part where i stated i was joking.

That's bad form.

I know it was a joke but it still doesn't matter. Don't ruin a good thread with that kind of rubbish. You're just baiting people into responding and when they do it'll be "just joking guv'nor".

Save those kind of posts for the Battlelog forums. :)

pgi said the same...

And as rusty said, no brand bashing even if it is said in jest, its just a de-railing argument ready to happen :)

... so just leave it at that and keep it on track.

That's not it at all Rusty and you know it.

Its only ruined because you decided to make something of it. had you kept your sense of humour and left it no one would have said anything about it.

Your the one soiling the thread, your going to try and continue this and turn it into a full blown argument, but i'm going to put an end to it.
This is my last response to you in this thread, try your hardest to ruin this thread Rusty you will be arguing on your own.
I don't know what gets into you sometimes Rusty, i really don't. i try and get along with you time and time again but you never fail to pull crap like this.

PGI - can you message a mod and get all this rubbish removed? Got no chance of getting the thread stickied with this kind of tosh littered around.

Humbug - no-one is denying it was said in anything other than a joking manner but that kind of stuff is not welcome in this thread in any form as per the OP. I was just asking you to comply with the request in the OP. Look at what you have written afterwards and question who is doing the soiling ;).

This is a user benchmark thread - not to brand bash tongue in cheek or not.

Dual monitor results look pretty good, gives me an insight into performance for when I lay my hands on a 21:9 monitor (2560x1080, essentially ~2 screens minus a little).

I'll get a mod to clean up a little, see what I mean when I say something in jest can derail a thread? ;)

Kiss and make up guys, you love each other really :D

There's no problem this end :)

All I asked was for him to leave out with any kind of brand bashing, joking or not because as you said it can derail quite quickly.

I don't think this was an instance of derailing - more just humbug not liking me pointing out that joking or not brand bashing ain't wanted here! :)

I'd rather see more of rusty's arguments with user xxxxxx than him kissing another man. :p

:D

Decided against trying out 7970 crossfire. At the worst I'd be a few quid out of pocket from either DSR postage or selling on the 680's but I just can't be arsed.

I've lost enthusiasm for changing stuff around at the mo - happy with just how it is. It was just the tester in me that wanted to quantify the difference between 7970 crossfire post 11.12 and 680 SLI. :)

Hahah :p

I've picked up enthusiasm for changing stuff (again). MSI Big Bang Xpower II heading my way and possibly a bench table for temp use until I get my new case (XSPC H1+) :D

Quite shocked at the prices of those LTG BE's though, £20-45 more than the Matrix plat, though it does officially become THE fastest out of the box 7970 in the process. Just need someone to give me both the stock and LN2 bios ;)

Glad i could give a little insight for u :) With 2xMSAA it was really playable and smoother than i thought it would be but as soon as i changed it to 4xMSAA although it was still playable u can feel some kind of microstutter going on when it gets heavy (like one of those ppl that have no clue how to fly and they crash a jet right in front of u.. smoke n flames etc) but then this is a 7950 here. Im sure an overclocked 7970 will have no trouble at this res.

With these new drivers i kinda feel like my 7950 turned into a pre Cat 12.11 7970 :D

All in all im very happy i went with this card now. Will have to get some Future Soldier gameplay done.. probably bench a whole mission maxed out :)
