Legal to undertake on motorways and dual carriageways

If there's enough room tO undertake there's enough room for the inattentive fits to move over

Your wish is my command, it is perfectly legal to pass someone on the left on a dual carriage way or motorway.

You stay in your lane, at the speed you are doing, and just go past.

What you dont do is roar up behind them, swing to the left, boot it then as soon as you are past swing back out to the right.

You just plan ahead, set your speed, and get on with it.

So wrong

It is illegal to pass on the nearside unless traffic is moving in queues.

No, it is illegal to move to the left to overtake.

However if lane 1 is empty and you employ "keep left" and continue at the speed you were doing (at or below the limit) it is perfectly legal to happen to go faster than lane 2

Your post is pointless

Do you really think what I have posted would get into the highway code?

The word GAY does not always mean a homo, its also use as rubbish or original meaning of happy.

I think his point was, given all the things you 'could' say, why choose something as daft as you did.

And the word Gay does mean either homosexual or happy and bright. It does not mean rubbish, except in some peculiar playground slang that has arisen over the last ...8-10 years or so.

When people use the word gay in that way, it just says to me that they have bellow average intelligence and a very limited imagination. In other words, it makes you sound like a moron.

As for my idea of an OcUK highway code, I think most things would say have already been said. I would like it to state that no car can use the roads if it has an internal combustion engine with less than 4 cylinders nor can it have less than 1,400cc ...for safety reasons!

Also a road car can not be less than 4m in length nor can it have a wheelbase shorter than 2.5m. For safety reasons again, also smaller cars tend to look daft, like toys.

And finally diesel can only be used to power commercial vehicles and off-roaders, not passenger cars.

Oh and no 'stupid' sounding sports bikes or scooters or mopeds. Only proper tourers and cruisers like Harleys and Goldwings etc.

This is what the highway code says

Highway Code rule 268 advises against undertaking on a motorway: "Do not overtake on the left or move to a lane on your left to overtake".
On other roads you can "only overtake on the left if the vehicle in front is signalling to turn right" (rule 163).
On all roads, undertaking is permitted if the vehicles in the lane to the right are queueing and slow moving.
Undertaking in an aggressive or reckless manner could be considered Careless Driving or more seriously Dangerous Driving, both of which are legally enforceable offences.

What ever:rolleyes:

Apart from littering, what is wrong with that?

Try following on a bike and having a lit cigarette but land somewhere on you. Or even follow in a convertible and have one land somewhere in the interior of your car.

It's a *****, filthy thing to do - these people are just treating the whole word as their ashtray.

See thats where you have gone wrong already, under my new rules you and your bike have already been banned!

It entirely depends what "overtake" means

afaik it means to make an overtaking manoeuvre, which is to change lanes in order to pass a vehicle.

If you change lanes to "keep left" and then happen to be going quicker than the vehicle on your right then it is not an overtake surely but simply driving in your lane at or below the limit?

Well you certainly didn't mean it to be happy and using it as rubbish is something kids do.

I never said they would get into the highway code, they were soo stupid that i could only think of them as being a joke.

Have you rolleyes back :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

What ever:rolleyes:

Sums it up.

Rypt

If you catch up with a car in the outside lane, going slower than you, you cant just carry on in your lane to "overtake"
You should going outside lane and flash your lights, parp your horn, ram them up the rear to get them out the way.
They should then move out your way :p

Ditto anyone who wants to wear a hat whilst driving.

Now that's just crazy talk son!

If your drivers seat is so far back that you are lying down to assume the 'chav' driving position, you should have your car crushed, whilst you're in it.
