I could have sworn I had 225kgs in plates!

Oh well, a PB is a PB. This was just one of those random times when you get bored and want to try something.

I really didn't think I'd get it when I started warming up for it, Thursday was Squat 5x5 and Friday I did nothing but cleans and power cleans...

I'll get some more plates and do a real PB run before the year is out :)

So the plan was to go for a Squat PB today of 200kg.

I finished work at half eight this morning and went straight round to my bro's for some pre workout bacon butties and a brew.

Got to the gym, warmed up, stretched and started working up to my max.

Everything felt good up to 180kg at which point I felt myself start to lean forward at the bottom and go up onto my toes. Anyway, we loaded up 200kg and this was my second lift at the weight.

I wasn't happy with the depth on my first attempt even tho my brother thought it was good. Again I felt the weight on my toes rather than heels. Something I obviously need to work on. Up to 160kg I can push through my heels and I feel much more powerful.

After this I did 140x10 for a rep PB! :D Then we moved on to Bench.

I usually train alone and don't really bench with a powerlifting style. More of a flat back gym rat style. My brother was lifting the weight off for me and showed me how to setup properly with an arch. It seemed to work as I got a 10kg PB!

Happy with that so treated myself to a Mcdonalds on the way home. :)

Reiy - nice lift, though the downwards motion your form broke enough to make me go "oooh" - but that was too easy. You've got another 10kg in you easily if not more!

JaWalks - great bench! Nice squat too - nice and deep, though form broke a bit, but hey, you were doing a PB.

I need to get back on it it seems!

Cheers for all the feedback guys :) I'll have to sneak into an actual gym to try do more than that, can't afford any more weights at the minute!

FF I generally just have my hands on the bar on the way down, there's 0 tension in my body so I just let it go more or less. Thanks for the vote of confidence about the extra strength in the tank :D

The dog is a Jack Russell called Maisie, she loves coming out to watch me train :D

JaWalks, awesome lifts man!

What out though JaWalks, spoffle does not approve of your squat depth.

Any thoughts of competing? You'll need an extra inch to be safe in comp, but I reckon that's easy enough if you can tighten up your teckers.

You have a point on the depth.

Compete? Not at the moment but definitely at some point.

I'm getting married in the summer so going to focus on getting into better shape as I want to look my best on the honeymoon. I do no cardio at the moment which is inexcusable. Plan is to just work on my form, sort my diet out and get into better shape.

After that I might pluck up the courage to train with the big dogs at Ralls. They have Powerlifting at the World Fire Fighter Games and I wouldn't mind giving that a go.
