***The Official 5900X \5950X owners thread***

No more 6900xt benching for me at the min. My 5950x hasn't been right for the last month or so before my change from the edge to unify. I think it's from the dodgy patch of November time last year as I got it in December. The IO die was dying 5a internal CPU error and got to the stage where it could no longer boot 3600mhz ram. Been replaced last week, the replacement was total crap so that's gone back too for a refund now! 2-3% worse and uses 20w+ more at the same time! And just to top it off the Bluetooth on the Unify packed in too, so that out and going back today!
It's quite scary how much variation there is on the 5950x. I'd love to test a box full to get a better picture. The replacement I got was doing what it should just the CCD's where of a poorer quality to my first chip.
So back to square one
There's always a couple of % difference, just comes down to Chip/Asic quality. Had a few 6900 XTs, some were a couple of percent faster than others. Nothing out of the ordinary IMO.

Third time lucky i hope for you mate. :)

Could run a bit cooler or boost a bit higher, yes.

You'd be best going all in if you're going to play with PPT, TDC and EDC though and get a proper curve done :)

If i can get any performance for free without any gain in temps i will take it, not to keen on increasing temps atm as the weather is brutal.

Sorry i keep quoting you on different threads lol, does PBO Limits disabled actaully do anything (i.e lower temps etc)? Just PBO advanced > PBO limits disabled.

R23 single core - 1592
R23 multicore - 24604

*They seem pretty close to PBO Limits on auto tbh in R23, in a game i tested i did notice lower temps.*

PBO limits disabled uses the chip defaults. Which means about 5 ‘C + reduced temps and less power for a minimum drop in performance.

Got my 5900X yesterday. Only really played with the memory so far, but it's happily running B-Die @ 4133MHz / FCLK 2066MHz CL16. Attempting 4200Mhz/2100Mhz causes audio-glitches (but will loop memtest86, R23 & Prime), so sticking @ 4133 1:1. The IMC on this chip is not as good as the 4650G APU it replaced, which easily did 4200/2100 24/7 and could bench @ 4400/2200 with stability.

AIDA64 gives a latency of 53.9ms, with Reads a little over 64000MB/s.

What motherboard are you running on? I can imagine you are having to push 1.2v+ soc to get that stable?

It's an ASUS X570 TUF Gaming, with 1.150V SOC.
You've got a hell of a IO die there! I've got a 3rd 5950x to checkout. My first started to fail and the 2nd was just a poor chip so 3rd time lucky.
Fingers crossed your chiplets will tweak well with curve optimiser. I've found good silicon to do gold -11, silver -15 and the rest -21.

Testing CO now. -30 on all cores isn't stable (Prime95 reboots after 10-20mins), but -25 seems good so far. Only tested with memtest86, R23 & Prime95 for ~30mins each, so a way to go.

Not really played with voltages either, other than VCore offset of -0.875v to keep temps below 70 for Cinebench and RAM @ 1.5v. Using a 240mm AIO for cooling.

Best thing is to use CB23 and check numbers. Giving the gold and silver cores less of an undervolt should allow them to boost as high as possible. What's the highest clock you've seen so far? Hwinfo 64 is good for graphicing them.

Single-core boosts up to 4950MHz, but varies between 4800 & 4950 within R23. All-core boost is pretty stable aound 4450. R23 scores around 1610 / 22300 with above settings. The extra memory speed makes very-little difference for Cinebench, although it does add a few FPS within games.

edit: Increasing the negative Vcore offset increases multi-core R23 scores but reduces single-core. I settled for -0.875v VCore offset as this allows a far-higher sustained mult-core, but only drops 10 or 20 points from the single-core score. At zero offset the single-core is more willing to sit above 4900, but multi drops to sub 4200.

My first 5950x managed 31k in cd23. The 2nd one was crap, just wouldn't undervolt as well.
You want to make sure you set PBO to motherboard too, so it gives to power above the default 140w limit. I'm not sure what the limit is on your board. The cheapest boards manage 200w.

Just checked, and my Mobo PBO limits are as follows:-
rnRl6Vx.jpg

Using Mobo PBO bumps my R23 score past 23K, and the all-core clocks close to 4600MHz. It also nudges temps into the 80's (from late 60's).

That sounds better, 4.6ghz was what I was expecting. Now you have the power it's about tweaking the curve optimiser if you want the very best numbers.

Guys what is best way to keep temps under 70c while gaming got 5900X yesterday, playes whole afternoon its tricky cpu :) im noy into chasing scores just gaming under 70c :)

I read it that -5/10/15 negative curve testing is a way to go in pair with lowering PPT,but not sure which PPT value is defautt for this cpu i think i saw 84 but i think its to small,on 84 95 and 100 i got 62c while gaming but not longer then 10min so its not stable, now im reading several post before about -0.875 vcore offset,so what i have to do

Mobo is msi tomahawk x570

PBO to advanced
Play with negative and test PPT or PBO to advanced and Vcore -0,875 or both?

Also what is the real temps of CPU core temp or other values
