****The Official 5G Home Broadband Thread**** (Three/EE/Vodafone/etc)

Hi guys. I'm back again after a few days of testing in still getting drops in signal from the CPE PRO 2.

Drops in connection only occur from the router and not my phone. I'm using EE for both router and mobile phone.

I think I've tried everything now and still have to restart up to two times a day, so I think i will send the router back for repair/replacement.

Is it fair to say that I've done my best with the router?

Been having major problems with my three 5g hub having to reset it 2 to 3 times a day due to drop outs, after 2 weeks with signal tests by three and loads of calls still the same problem, after a quick google and other people having the same problem the conclusion was to turn off the auto updates, after 4 days I have had no drop outs and a solid and steady signal, coincidence maybe just happy to not keep resetting the bloody thing

Hi Kenny. This is probably the one thing i haven't done and will try it tonight. I've got until the weekend before i return it if it doesn't sort itself out by then then its going back for a repair. Can i just ask did you do a factory reset then turn off the auto-updates?

Well am now up and running on the £3 Unlimited SIM, since yesterday, and it has been exactly the same as the last one, just a bit cheaper. Got a months worth of overlap, what to do with a spare unlimited data SIM for a month... ideas on a postcard to Bluepeter, PO Box... :p

5G masts(3 network/small on street lighting) going up around my area now, not working yet. Thought it would be years, and years before they showed up around me.

So there is always hope!, thought I was lucky having 4G+ available here.

What's the ownership status of Three's 5G router? I'm seeing quite a few of them being advertised on eBay but I'm not clear whether people get to keep the 5G router at the end of their contract or have to send it back to Three.

So I'm moving into a flat in Beckenham. I tested the internet speed on my 3 mobile phone. Only getting between 1 to 2mb. Very disappointing lol

I may have to move away from 3. Any other network recommendation for home broadband?

Thanks

I have just got one with three and they said at the end of contract it has to be returned.

I have just got three 5G with the ZTE MC801a hub. I have full 5g signal but signal strength is -85dBm. What is considered a good dBm for strong signal with 5g?

Yes, test them all at every time of the day you may want to use the connection. Check your proximity to the cell masts/towers and look at what they are offering in terms of bandwidth. It really is a case of having to suck it and see, and I'd advise once you find the one you want to go with 30 day only contract for a while, to make sure there aren't issues long term, it also offers the opportunity switch easily if one of the providers were to offer a 5G service for example.

Which site to check which mobile network support or so I have to check coverage for each mobile operator?

Just ran the post code of the flat on 3 coverage checker. Have 5G. My phone only supports 4G so I don't know how well 5G will be unfortunately....

Quick question : are the simcards you get with the broadband deals the same as the normal mobile sims or do they act differently?

Other than being restricted to data only for the most part, they are identical. I used a normal phone SIM for a year solely for data, as sometimes the data only deals actually cost a substantial amount more.

I have a normal gif gaf sim in my 4G router and it works fine the router even receives text messages that I can read in the app!

Hi folks i have been with 3 - 5g for about a year on my mobile and only recently signed up for the Huawei CPE PRO 2 ( 2 year contract on 3).
I originally had a 3-pay as you go Sim. I bought a Samsung Galaxy A42 -5G a cheapish 5 G mobile phone with a slow Snapdragon processor (Qualcomm SM7225 Snapdragon 750 5G (8 nm).).I put the Sim in the phone and wow i had 5g . i speed tested the phone and got about 300 Mbps. This speed test used about £6 of my data.I instantly ordered the Unlimited Sim. And went crazy seeking good 5g speeds.Trying to find the source of 5g. you know where the 5g originates.
Before i do a speed test on the Samsung Galaxy chocolate bar. I make sure i have a 100% battery . I do a Samsung Tune up settings/Battery and device care i optimise the phone so it turns all back ground apps off.Make sure there's no data savers on.As some speed tests use about 2.5Gb.
Samsung has speed-tested 1442. Mbps Down 139 Mbps 12 ms Ping. 5 Jitter.
Balong 5000 speed tested on my window sill at home 828.66 Mbps Down 55.47 Up 11 ping. lowest ping 9 ms .
When i speed test the Huawei i keep the test picture and the router data stored on a word doc. to hopefully learn something about this confusing 5g.
Tried posting pictures of my Test ???
