****The Official 7900 overclocking thread****

Just installed my XFX 7900 GT Extreme Edition (520/1500). Works as advertised and benches similiar to earlier posts. :)

However when I detect optimal overclock through the driver it really doesn't offer me any extra. I've tried it a few times and the best I have got is 523/1536. :(

Does this mean that XFX have really tested and badged their cards according to optimal overclock?

I guess I could force a manual settings - but I only got it today...

same card as me EE 520/1500 currently running 550/1634
when I detected optimal overclock I got a lot higher than that.

i'm not so sure coolbits is working properly with these 7900's and the X64 drivers yet, any overclock I apply locks up CoD2. Might need to wait a while for a new Rivatuner/coolbits. My maze 4 will be on it next week too.

Runs ace at stock anyway though:D

Dunno I'm only currently playing CoD2. I was on it for 2hrs earlier @ 511/1500 with no crashes so maybe its just the detect optimal frequencies setting being set to high, causing it to lock.

It even froze in the driver CP at 530 core, need my waterblock on asap I reckon:D

Reading in other forums they seem to be clocking quite well regardless of model.

I have been reading up on bios flashing too.A few people have flashed theirs with a modded bios that feeds both 1.3v and 1.4 to the GPU.

But more research is needed first. :)

Didn't wanna make a new thread for this random thought so I'm posting it in the first 7900 thread I came across :p

Does anyone reckon someone will make a card like the Albatron Ti4200 turbo? I.e. get a 7900GT chip and slap it on a GTX PCB so we can have some fun with it... that would be cool

Back OT, nice to see the 7900's are clocking pretty well :D

This is where the fun starts:D

Must be voltage limited, 33c full load after an hour of CoD2 but 570 core failed on coolbits. Currently running 540/1600.

It was worth it just for the silence anyway, awesome:cool:

flash it with a modded bios that feeds it 1.4v ;)

Ok my MSI 7900GT is at stock 450/1320 at 54C atm.

EDIT:
Ok first conservative clock attempt, at 500/1400, boosted my 3dMark 2006 score to 4109 (from 3855).

The autodetect thing in Nvidia came up with 527 / 784 (1568). Should these be safe then? :p

would have thought so.

Everyone I have seen manages 550/1600 without to much problem.
And some have been getting 600/1800
