** The Official 8800GT 512/256mb Review/Overclocking Thread **

That's with watercooling though? Hardly a common situation for people like me :)

Never tried it at 740 but it ran fine at 700 I dont see why it couldn't manage an extra 40.

At the end of the day all cards will clock differently just like CPU's so its the luck of the draw.

It ran fine on 700 with air, or? :)
Really interested in this :)

Yes intial testing was 700/2000 with the stock cooler and it remained silent throughout.

I suspect these cards are limited by low volts because of the cooler. I'm sure a volt mod will see speeds over 800.

Oh you're great!
Sorry i'm really daft but which card was that again? Those results rock, thanks a bunch man! I don't dare volt mods and stuff, but 700/2000 would be great :D

Just been playing with Crysis and got fraps working now.

With these settings @ 1680x1050 and 0xAA im getting between 21 and 35 FPS :(

Im using the stock cooler to get 700/2000 although the crysis test was run at stock

So which is the best card ? and how comes the budget models come with a game and the more expensive ones you don't get diddly ?.
I will get the one with company of heroes then i can sell my original copy with online key :P which will bring price down a bit.

Well the more expensive ones justify their price with pre-overclocking, and usually also more flexible warranty, that's usually all. Games aren't something to count on today unfortunately.

Well I spent the evening having a play. Here is what I have found so far:

3DMark06 - score on X1950Pro 512MB - 5210. On 8800GT 11021

Crysis: Selected Optimise settings and it set all options to High at 1680x1050. Game runs smooth.

COD4 - Again at 1680x1050, all options set to max including large corpses. Again runs smooth, no slow down.

HL2 Lost Coast - ran stress test - 157 FPS ave.

Rig is: Intel C2D 6750 running stock.
2 GB Ram
XP with SP2.
Nvidia Crysis beta drivers v169.04.

So far, very happy.
