** The Official 8800GT 512/256mb Review/Overclocking Thread **

Its strange, I have everything set to stock , only overclock is my cpu, my 8800GT is at about 46-52 degrees under load, and then i get red pixellated screen after a while when playing games (i think you call these artifacts?) - and then pc freezes and I have to reboot, any idea? CPU is at 45 degrees

Do I sell my MSI superclock GTX for about £250 and buy a GT for £146 cheapest iv seen and have an extra £100 in my pocket or leave it how it is?

Im on 1920x1200, I wont be playing Crysis just cod4 on lowsettings...better for multiplay

Sounds like a bum card to me I'm afraid, just happens sometimes. :(

I'd request an RMA number from where you got it and send it back.

No, just the BFG ones at present, but they have had BFG, OcUK and Asus ones this week

i get over 17000 with 2 of these in sli with a q6600 at 3ghz and the cards at 700/1750/1900 in 3d mark 06

any good?

if i got my cpu up to 3.6, and squeezed some more out of the cards, do you think 18.5k is achievable?

Thats good if you ask me - are you on XP?
Im runnnig 2 in SLI and can only get 12801. :(

ye im on xp, i used to get around 13 k, but as soon as i upped my cpu to 3ghz (from 2.4) and applied the overclock stated on the cards my score went up very high. implies theyre cpu limited at 2.4ghz

edit: i also have to state my power findings.

my ENTIRE set up:
Q6600 @ 3ghz
2 x 8800GT's @ 700/1750/950
2gb @ 850mhz
P5NE-sli
4 HDD's
some fans

are all running off an antec truepower trio 550watt.

ive never had any kind of issue with the system locking up or turning off underload.

You have me so tempted to order another one of these when mine comes, do you have any game benches?

i can get some if you like, altho im on the m1710 atm, im back on the desktop monday if thats any good to you people.

what games you want benched?

bearing in mind im not using vista, so things like WIC cant be benched in dx10

Don't think the crysis demo supports SLI...

you know i think it does though, when i use the sli indicator (i dont know how accurate it is though) it always seems to be 'used'. by that i mean the green bars are filled up almost to the max. this is with alternate frame rendering

i can run it with the dx10 hacks at excellent frame rates, with no slowdown even in the intense situations. whether that just means 1 of them is amazing, or sli works, i dont know. this is only with 2xAA mind @ 1680x1050

I don't mind about DX10 really but I'd be interested in single vs. SLI performance in WIC if you could possibly have a quick go when you get back. :)

Also if the Crysis demo supports SLI, probably doesn't, then that would be nice to see.

Aye that's why I removed that part of my post, remembered it being said somewhere.

Welcome back by the way. :)

It is an asus p5nsli, just read the following when checking the specs:

SLI
Under Single VGA mode (Default):
- 1 x PCI Express x16 graphics card on the first slot (blue)
- 1 x PCI Express x1 card on second slot (black)

Stupid me, i've got it installed in the black slot! I swear i'll be good at this mullarky one day!

Really confused now! Moved the card to the blue slot but GPU-Z still saying x16@x8! Should i be bothered? Does it actually make any difference?

Is Vista 64 really making your score that low?

I get 15554 with one 8800 GT.

Your AMD 6000+ @ 3.33Ghz is certainly no slouch

I know, I can't confirm this just yet but I'm gonna be putting XP back on the system on Monday hopefully, then run the same test and see the score difference with the same CPU overclock. So that will be very interesting.
I know you have a quadcore but I too would expect to see a higher score than I'm getting in SLI, so maybe it is Vista.
I'll let you know once XP is put back on. :)

Really interested in this...

Thats why I dual boot with Vista.

Will bench later today with vista 64 and see the difference it makes myself too:)
