Do you not stop during those 36 hours?

Don’t think I’ve ever heard of a 36 hour journey without any form of rest.

Exactly, who the hell hikes for 36hrs straight without stopping, 60hrs with the battery saver. And if your going on a long trip your bound to have a battery backup or somewhere to plug it in. Take a rest for 40mins and the watch will be close to full anyway.

Also with normal usage I get 24hrs to 30hrs easily without any battery saving features turned on, AOD on and all features on my Series 7, so going by that usage my usage should be able to squeeze 2.5 to 3 days out of that ultra which is plenty.

I have an S5, apart from 'normal' watch use, I use mainly use it for dog walks, gym tracking and the occasional run. I don't see anything that the 8 offers which would revolutionise any of my uses so I think I'll just keep it until it dies or a new watch comes out with significantly better features/battery life.

Coming from a 4 I’ll order mine today I think. I was considering getting a 7 to save a few quid since this really isn’t much of an upgrade but, crucially, I’ve always bought silver aluminium watches and they didn’t offer that colour last year. I have some bands from Juuk etc and they wouldn’t match the Starlight colour of the 7.

Need to see it in the flesh before I decide whether it can look non-idiotic on my child arms.
Same, although Apple do allow no questions asked returns, it'd be nice to see one. Might have to convince my mrs (it won't take much) to take a trip to Cribbs Causeway.

Ordered the series 8, will see what happens with the sensor, if it’s no good then this will be the last time I try.

It’s not just the HR sensors it’s the algorithm they use which is rubbish. If it accidentally records 190bpm for a few seconds when you’re sitting still it will save that data instead of discarding it. You end up with a daily HR chart that looks ridiculous as it has all these random blips. Hearts do not go from 50bpm to 190bpm and back again in the space of a few seconds.

I don’t have any issues doing HR readings etc, the problem I have is the Apple Watch doesn’t detect its on my wrist as I have dark tattoos, so it locks itself every time the screen dims, very annoying!

Hmm I keep looking at the Ultra now. :D

I'd quite fancy the ultra if it was a tad smaller. I'll never use the capabilities, but like you said - new, shiny. I keep getting tempted with an S8, but honestly my S6 is fine. I'll probably (hopefully?) wait till it dies or I smash the screen or something.

How does it work for people with darker skin if it doesn't work with dark tattoos?
Not sure, I’ve tried loads of different options to get it to work but the only way I can is to turn wrist detection off which defeats the purpose as Apple Pay etc is disabled.

I've just googled it and it's a thing, something to do with the ink blocking light. That sucks!
