***The Official Asus Eee PC Thread***

there is only one ram slot so you'd have to buy a 1gb module.

As for the price of it all, you gets what you pays for :p

Are there any plans on a 1GB RAM Asus EEE PC? I can't see the point of buying the 512MB just to throw it away, surely buying a eee pc with 1GB of ram will work out cheaper?

The 8G comes with 1GB RAM installed

ooooh - nice link tripitaka :D !!! Glad to be proven wrong - 9" is plenty for me ;)

ps3ud0

I'm gonna wait for pricing on the 8 and 8.9 inch screen version. Apparently the res is 1024*600 which should be much nicer for web browsing. They need to fit it into the same housing though and keep it small. I've heard speculation that the 8.9 won't fit.

Personally I don't mind paying extra for bigger/better resolution screen because I was never planning to upgade mine with the extra ram/touchscreen/SD card (don't need to turn it into a full laptop when it's just for web browsing) so hopefully I can still get a 4G/512mb/8"screen(1024*600) for £300. I also fancy a colour that isn't white or black.

Can anyone tell me what RAM would be suitable for the EEE? I want to upgrade it to 2GB but have no idea what RAM to buy from ocuk! Thanks in advance!

So 533 Mhz? Would the following work?

2GB DDR2 SODIMM PC2 PC-5300 667Mhz 667 PC2-5400

Or would it be a problem being 667 Mhz? I have no idea about memory sorry.,

That's the RAM you want - as long as it's a single stick and not 2*1GB. Just buy the cheapest you can find as long as its PC2 PC-5300.

i found a 2gb module for 28 quid delivered so that's good. Its bringing all sorts of classic pc gaming to lectures.
