Note the extended water path over the vrms.

It's quite nice but I hope a little unfinished.

I don't get why they don't add a few fins in the rest of the water flow path. It could be done without any extra machining (less actually) or increasing the flow restriction and the extra surface area has to improve the heat transfer. Those steps could do with being blended in too, actually if you bought one it could be modded.

One of these days I'll find the time to make some blocks myself and then someone can criticize them! :D

Its a prototype so general finish is poor, although I'm sure you know the end mill finishing pass leaves visible swirls that are in reality very mooth. Eddy has a pretty good idea what works by now. He's going to be designing around his cnc tooling costs and op time, sure there are design improvement that may gain a few percent performance and cost a disproportionate amount to manufacture. Pretty hard to fault EK tbh, the only thing I'd wish for is stand offs to the pcb.

Woot, my 2nd post...

Anyways, sold my lowly 8800gtx on ebay woohoo! so can stretch to a new 5850 at most, damn u lot and ur shiney 5870s ;) But anyway, running a Dell 2209WA, so a 5870 be a bit of overkill right? the extra outlay of £100 just cant be justified for a single 22'' monitor with that low resolution.

So anybody have any ideas of release for these 5850s?

so do we really think the stream processors will make that much difference ?

GPU is lower clocked - but I'm sure with a bit of overclocking it would reach near the 5870 ?

memory is lower clocked -but not by much - and again I'd imagine overclocking it would get it near the 5870 ?
