The official canon 5d mk4 thread

I saw that last night, saw another video, it has no real world advantage.

The one thing i wanted it to do, which is the eye thing, it can't do. It's a neat idea on paper but all that R&D didn't translate well to real world.

I'm surprised they actually went ahead to include it in the finished product after what must have been learnt from the R&D stage of the feature. Someone has seriously lost their marbles, as the feature literally has zero benefit. But was marketed to be game changing...

Jeez that video. From the earlier stuff I thought that would be the cameras redeeming feature but it's just terrible. For almost double the price currently you can get a MK3, damn are they going to struggle to shift cameras.

Looking forward to seeing some shots from it :)

The daft price, dual pixel raw that doesn't work and card slots aside, i'll bet it will produce some fantastic images.

Very disappointed at the price tbh.. I knew it would be higher than the existing model but this is out of my range. At that price, it needs to be paying paying for itself.

Sensor looks like it had a decent boost in performance. the rest seems mostly evolutionary changes but as the Mk3 was a solid performer that is not too and. A great camera that will reliably take great photos but a little disappointing relative to the price I think.

if I was a canon shooter I would probably pick up a mK3 2nd hand and put the cash difference into lenses.

Yeah I'm watching the 5D3 price daily in the hope they save a few hundred off and will put the rest towards a 24-70. In 3 years time I will do the same and get the 5D4. If I made a living out of it of course I would think differently but my 50D doesn't have 8k actuations on it, so it would be a bit extravagant to spend 4.5k on the combo.

I'll be selling both my 5D3 in the spring and replace them with a mk4. Or sooner, last wedding in October so have plenty of time in between seasons to save up.

My 5d3 has 47k shutter counts.....

I am starting to think that this is some kind of game to get the people with lots of money to transfer their money to Canon and for no particular reason.

By the way, at 13:17 I will do a ball-bag shift which requires you to get an entirely different perspective to before, at zero cost, as long as you have the new camera. And the new lens.

Great for you. Hope you get a really good shot. Of my ball-bag.

The rest of us carry on as normal.

No difference.

I am starting to see Canon Execs as Jehovah's Witnesses. Yes- Maybe there MIGHT be something there, but I can't see it. And neither can you.

Cheats, liars and con-men.

But a fool and his money.

Much as I see where you are coming from, you are talking about a camera 1 off the flagship, it is never going to be "cheap".

I paid £2.7k for one of my mk2, £2.9k for one of the first mk3, that was when the pound was at least 10% stronger.
